Well theres a place an hour away from that i go to and they have a drag strip there and i a dude comment on how fast my new atc was. Well i raced some 450's and modded 400ex's and i beat one of each except for one 450 and 400 ex that was modded. How come i cant beat the few i didn't beat because i know the atc 250r will stomp all over them even modded one's?

alot of it has to do with skill. Practice, Practice and Practice some more.

yes skill and gearing on it i guess.... Problem is its a really dusty area so the tires spin and when the grip it wheelies.

A short drag is all in the holeshot. Practice holeshots, and your golden. get some good tires if wheelspin plagues you too much.

wheelspin is key and shiftign weight to transfer traction on my r i comeout of the hole in 3rd pegged way up on the tank and slid eback as i hit the 15 foto mark and transfer all power to the rear wheels and try and hovver the front wheel abotu 4 inches of fthe ground the entire 300feet but i also shaved alotttt of weight of fmy 85 r.

but also throttle control, reaction time, and set up.

if your gettign toomuch traction add a little air pressure to your tires try startign of fin 1-3rd gears , and play with sprocket sizes if you can afford to. get it so you cam coemout of the hole and the bject is to coem out of the hole hard and hook up without lettign the motor falloff the rpm's keep it in the powerband and keep it wound and keep that hand of fthat clutch unles syou absolutly have to i slap my clutch lever so it grabs and grabs hard when releasing and just kepe into the throttle.

Here you go kid, check this thread out. It has a lot of drag racing videos on it. It's a little old but still good stuff. Watch how 1upfront rides his air cooler. He has been fairly successful on the drag strip.
