my 83 250r will start then dies right away like it has no rpm,even at full throtle it does the same. has good compression. dont know if the reeds are bad or carb

you can check the reeds and make sure there is no gaps between the reeds and the cage but first check the carb and give it a good cleaning and make sure your idle screw is set right and your air fuel screw is set right and that you have the proper main jet

no gaps in the reeds and dont know how to set the air and fuel screws the carb is cleaned all taken apart and put back together any idea how many turns on the air fuel screw

tighten it all the way down then turn it out about 1 3/8 turn

what about the jets in the bowl float how do u set them or just tighten them down tight

runs then dies,i notice after 2 or 3 kicks the plug is wet

if the plug is really wet that means u are to rich and thats y it dies or it may not even be carb at all it could be coil or cdi could be bad and not giving it enough spark as for the jets the main jet u just screw in till its tight same goes for the pilot the main jet mayb to big and flooding out the engine also make sure the air filter is clean
