as some of you that attended TF09 know, I wrecked on wednesday night right after we got there and ended up in the hospital with what the laurel indiana ER thought was a torn ligament in my left shoulder. Turns out after a cat scan that my orhtopedic surgeon tells me is alot worse.

as it turns out, I fractured my shoulder and streched some important nerves. Aside from the healing fracture, my stretched nerves are a big deal. The nerves that make my muscles lift my arm up (to do the chicken dance as I can describe it) dont work for now and may not work for along time if ever again correctly.

I wrecked and my shoulder dislocated but from what my doc tells me is no longer dislocated. The nerves are stretched but not torn, so I have a VERY limited use of my left arm for the next months to a year at best.

Be careful out there guys, accidents happen easy and theres no reason to push things when your riding at night. Take it easy and be safe!

also, i was on a quad which may have had a big part in this lol had I been on my 300R I would have probably been broke down at came instead of in the ER

also also, looking forward to sandpup's ride this year. Its almost a week away!! Check it out in the riding section on this board

Wow man that's terrible!! I hope you can chicken dance again very soon!!

It's probably all the "liquid courage" that didn't let you realize how bad it actually was, that and like DC says, all the excitement to be there. Everything happens real fast.

Wishing you a great recovery, Hope all goes well!!

Really sucked to see you in that much pain. That night sucked.

What really sucked was to see him stuck there at camp unable to ride day and night like the rest of us. :( Is there any kind of physical therapy that would help with the healing process?

thanks for the support guys, stupid things happen and thats life. But ya, its healing slowly.

I saw a nerve specialist yesterday, if youve ever had a nerve test done they suck!!! He said the nerves had been stretched but the damage wasnt as bad as my ortho surgeon made it out to be. My orthopedic surgeon has had it out for me since he found out it was an ATV related accident. trailprotrailprotrailprotrailprotrailprotrailprotr ailpro! I should be fine, not planning to get too crazy on sandpups ride; just putt around and socialize

Shoulda told him you did it on a 4 wheeler...

thats the dumbest thing i have ever heard.

first off he said he told them he was on a quad but you should never do that.

people kinda lump quads and trikes together so i alway just say i was on a bike.

ever since the ''ban'' in the 80s i have just said i was on a bike, bmx, dirt bike , whatever just so i didnt add to the statiscitcs.

wow sorry to hear that .... couple 4th of july's ago I broke my collar bone. Luckily for me I had time to use at work and got to ride my harley for a month while it "healed". Just take it easy . I go stir crazy just sitting around so i'm not going to say that you should do that oh well see ya at trikefest 2010 :beer

Well, WTF?? For that matter why hurt the mountain bike or dike bike industry if we don't like it done to us and our choice of sport.........

A quad or trike or skates or skis or skateboards or bar stool could all end up with the same outcome.

Couldn't someone fall off of a deck or stairs and grab something on the way down to have a similar injury??

They aren't about to ban decks or stairs I don't think

I'd still like to know what exactly happened? Did you grab onto something as you crashed??

Ill chime in for him here Steve. He was catching up to the pack of night riders, when they cut through the big mx track at Haspin. He didnt see the 3' high jump as he hit it sideways at speed. he and the 500lb V-Force did a summer-salt with Jason taking all the blow. There wasnt a mark on the bike, every bit of it hit him on the way over.

Im just really glad it happened close to camp, and not back in the woods. He was alone, in the dark, and just wondered to the nearest camp he could find. Then one of them came up to our camp and asked if we knew him.

We found his bike, and trucked him to the hospital.

I remember hopping on that MX track in 08, at speed and coming around the 1st turn I just fell into a massive rutt. It had rained like crazy out there in the prior weeks. I figured, he this is a real track, they must groom it? and I didn't expect it when I hopped on. Almost took a big dive!!
