Just picked up a 2005 Chevy Silverado, its only a 4.3 v6 however at the price i paid for a mint truck i coudlnt say no. Its a long box 2 door with aluminum rims on it and its white in color.

I was looking at exhaust videos on youtube and it seemed that the flowmaster 40's seemed to sound the best, however i dont have much knowledge of different exhaust systems and what not, id prefer duals however and dont really want to spend more then $700. Prefer a deep sound, doesnt have to be super loud since its only a v6. Any suggestions? Its just a truck to get me around i dont need some crazy power increase or anything.

I have a cat back Gibson dual exhaust and I really like the sound on my 2006 6.0 Silverado. Eventually I will finish off the system with matching headers.

My son has a 6cyl Ranger with a Magnaflow muffler, it runs both banks in and a single 2-1/2" pipe out. It really sound like a sports car. I was surprised how good it sounded, most exhaust on a 6, sounds like a garden tractor.

Yah I run flowmaster dual 40's with magnaflow tips on my 318 dodge and it sounds good.

my buddy runs a 97 chev 4.3 with a 40 muffler and no tip and it sounds alright I suppose, but as the saying goes. Theres no replacement for big displacement

For the 700 bucks you want to spend, You can get almost any full stainless single in Dual out set-up you want...
$700 is More than enough for A Magna-Flow stainless dual system installed.

I would run Flow-Master's or Magna-Flow for sure.
The Magna-Flow has a lifetime warranty on the SS polished muffler.
The Magna-Flow has a more mellow tone than Flow-masters.

My inline 6 in the jeep sounds just like a small block hedman hedder 6 into 2 into 1 flowmaster and single out The new vehicle's have such a restrictive cat on them that they are quiet without the exhaust.... my advice would be to put that $700 on some bills ...... or the stereo

Little soundclip of my 5.9 360 Dakota R/T with Magnaflow muffler and Cuda Tips. (ignore the ugly tailight covers and side steps - they've since been removed!)

flowmaster 40 series, best sound in my opinion, but you also get the most interior resonance from them.

Im not a big magnaflow fan, dont really care for the sound.

run a 50 series flowmaster single in dual out and no piping after the dual outlets. that will sound the best without too much interior noise.

My vote is for either FlowBastards or Gibson. I put Gibson Stainless Steel cat back on my dads 06 Ram HEMI, sounds tame at idle, throaty leaving the light, and ROWDY when you hammer the skinny pedal!!!!!! Gibson was under $600 shipped to the door. I called them weekly until it was released to the public. The kit is probably one of the best "kits" I've put on a vehicle, everything fit like a glove. I used only basic hand tools, no expanders to get the pipes to fit, no sawzall, hammers. It also helped that the original exhaust only had 2,500 miles on it. :D The only thing I upgraded at the time of the install was I swapped out the Zinc plated hardware for Stainless Steel hardware.

There is also no in cab resonance so your ears won't bug out (that's a big deal for a 70 year dude). All the noise stays to the outside!

To all you guys making reference to how the exhaust sounds on your V8, your points are all moot. It's apples and oranges comparing how a V8 sounds compared to a V6. And to the guy with the straight 6 that sounds like a small block, I want what you're smoking...

Thanks man! It's kinda silly, stuffing a 360 into the lil Dakota platform - but fun all the same! :naughty:

I vote magnoflow. I'm running a dual chamber setup with a 3in input and a 3in out with a rigged up turndown.

If it can make a crappy 1.5L deep and not sound like a ricer...they can help anyone.
