Round 6 of OTC race Series is coming up fast! Labor Day, September 7, 2009

6868 W. Smith Rd. Medina, OH 44256

done Round 1 - Summit County Indoor Race - Jan 10th - (Jan 9, 10, 11)
done Round 2 - Summit County Indoor Race- Feb 28th (Feb, 27, 28, M1)
done Round 3 - Memorial Day - Smith Road - May 25th (May)

done Round 4 - July 4th - Smith Road - July 4th (July)
done Round 5 - OTC Jamboree - Lightning Raceway Aug 22-23 (Aug)
Round 6 - Labor Day - Smith Road - Sept 7 (Sept)
Round 7 - Sunset Ramblers MX/Flattrack weekend - Oct 17-18(Oct)

For those who havent raced with us, we are a bunch of people out for a good time, from age 14-48 from beginner to veteran, racing for plaques. This is not cut throat racing, and contact is to be avoided (but prepared for). Accidents and mistakes happen, but deliberate crashing of other racers will get you booted. We will have at least a 3 wheeler A and B class with 10-15 racers in each class, possibly a 3rd class depending on attendance. Practice for big quads (which includes us) runs PROMPTLY 8:00-8:15. At 8:15 our practice is over. Typically the track is very muddy for practice, rutted and tacky for first moto, and dryer and faster moving 2nd moto. Many travelers stay at motel 6 on rt 18 in Medina. Any of the OTC people will be happy to help you out, and make you feel welcome. Its costs $10 to get in the gate, and $25 per class to race. Track requires boots that cover the ankle, eye protection, long sleeves, and long pants, and of course a helmet. You need at least a rear grab bar number plate. More are better. They also require a tether kill switch, but its not enforced at this track. Racers are prohibited from consuming alcohol before racing and all these tracks take this one seriously, folks! This includes people operating pit bikes in the parking area or anything else that is motorized. There is no pit riding at any tracks, other than idling around in low gear as is necessary. This a family activity, and there are as many children as adults at these events so please mind your f-bombs within earshot of children. If you have any questions feel free to email me.

Classes or pretty much based on where one typically finishes, so most new guys tend to start in "B" class, regardless of what they are riding, though occasionally some start in "A" class. (Keep in mind many places only have one trike class) Its been customary that once a rider wins "B" class (unless its due to a series of freak accidents and not his ability) he then moves on to "A" class.

I need to get an accurrate list of who is coming for sure, and what they are riding, to see if we have enough for a 3rd class, and to determine what it should be. Please cut and past the MOST RECENT posting of this list, and add your name to it.

Guys, keep in mind, these are NOT the classes! The idea here is for me to get a view of the full field so that I can petition the track operator to make class adjustments or changes if it is necessary or appropriate. As its stands right now, there is still only an A and a B class. They can get 15 racers on one gate. Ive seen as many as 35 or more bike, quad, and trike classes there, so a further split is unlikely without some near full gates.

Pulled my number plates off today, 18" trekkers, borrowing some 400ex hubs and got some new grips. AutoX should be RIPPIN!

Made some updates and corrections from my earlier post.

I cooked it down a little further. I think people were getting field categories mixed up with classes. I have the info we need if we need to further break it down. If I have your ride ride or class wrong, or a ?, please correct as necessary. TriZ250, I moved you to B class because I think you might have had the impression there was a 200X class. The guys running A class with these machines are top tier experienced A class racers whom we thought would slaughter B class, and they didnt want to take away the B class riders' shot at winning plaques. Feel free to move there if you feel you belong in that class, but I thought you probably didnt have a lot of race experience and would suggest B class if that is the case. Its looking like there will be a great opportunity for some new rising stars in "B" class to move on up to the front! Its also looking the typical A class front runners will be sliding back into the pack in "A" Class. This should be the most interesting race to date!

now I feel all warm and fuzzy inside, see you in a few days good brother!

Im super stoked, we have talked about this in the past and it never did happen.
All it took was some engine failure from Team Beatner and wola, so it begins

To: Josh Lou and others:

Thanks so much for backing up Snake and I - it is awesome that you guys would drop down in bike size to run with us. That is true friendship - sportsmanship right there. You know I'd do the same. If this is as fun as I think it will be - we should make it an annual event - or whenever someone has catastrophic engine failure - whichever comes first :)

Hey Steve - I got the pics you sent me in the mail - thanks a bunch buddy! Now - I must forewarn you: Sr is fast - looks are so deceiving! I for some reason sense some sarcasm in your post - LOL. It took me 3 darn years chasing that guy to finally get around him - and now I have to have a cheater bike to do it legit!!! I do believe we will be having some awesome small bore 4 stroke battles out back of the A class pack.

I think that makes you part of Team Beatner - eh??????
Looking forward to seeing you there - I am happy to hear you'll be racing!

So should I bring my zinger as well?

If there are 8 or you, and you want to run ($25 per class), I can get you a class, but the mini quad classes are limited by age, and adult classes are +200cc. If you guys bring these Zingers, keep in mind you cant rip around the pit area. You can use them to get around, but you have to putt around at idle speed and keep the wheels and the gravel on the ground. (Its at least 100 feet to the john or refreshment booth!) You'll find this one heavily enforced at almost any track, even Smith Rd.

I do not underestimate Sr. nor anyone in the "A"class...for that matter. The inside joke is really on me. I've been the wallflower long enough telling Sr. and a few others how I couldn't wait to race. My Z build has taken some serious time due to life and twins. The oppuritunity this season to run it, has slipped by. I was able to find an 86'200X(a gift for the wife) and race prep it in time for the final few OTC events. Some of you who don't know Sr. has heard me say...next time about a hundred times. Mosh asks when you gonna get that done more than once as well. So me giving the business to Sr. and Mosh comes from the heart....but the Roost comes free! See you all there
Tim your more than welcome for the photos...This should be an interesting gate. I can't predict an outcome. I will say that fun times are ahead!

Tim, why do you keep inviting people that are going to smoke you at Malvern? :beer

Because I like finishing last - the more people that finish in front of me - the better I feel at the end of the race - I think it is because of all of the fumes I breathe in during the race. I know last time i was behind you at Malvern it was like being on Cloud 9 - man you must have been running like 15:1 or something. It was sweet!

Dont you have work too do instead of messing @ on a computer Raffa, lol !!! All I know is that I got back too the farm last night and I was done. The Duckster Tecate put a deffinate wooping on my arse 'Literally',and I have to say that that's about the only part of my body with ache's today..I had an absolute awesome time yet once again and am geeked up for the next race.Thinkin about winter indoor this year...

I was in the B class 1 and I gotta say that we had some good battle's going on between us out on the track,Oh thanks for not mowing my seat over intentionally guy's although it does have perminant knobby track's etched into the vinyl, lol. I have to say that with the new Swinehart Tecate product's on my machine I was able to be right up in the heat of battle with the rest of the pack, but Corbin and Russ were just too consistant for me to get em.But I would'nt have missed it for anything, all I know is you can't buy memories like I got from this race.

My Thank you's~Ditchmud thanks for the photo op's,Tim Sr.for the organization,ATC Tim for the part's( You da Man!! ),Swinehart for the awesome performace part's,Sam and Jake for hangin' and everybody else that I got to see,it was great to see ya all again.I did'nt even bring my camera so I'm relying on all of you for any pic's~so let's see some more pic's..

Sandpuppi I thought you were in A class....Sorry to the guy on the Tecate in A class...that was me rubbin my fork 1st moto on your left rear. 2nd moto You squared up on the bottom of the corkscrew and I got cought in the line...and stalled. I can't say I'm pleased with my finish...(fat and out of shape). The X was running on full choke....the carb is in need of a rebuild. My wife put it nicely...She said well it's the frist time you've rode all year not to mention the machine. Plus the bike was scadered all over the garage 2 nights before the race. I did have a great time, even though my starts were poor and my overall was 12th. I susprised myself inside the corkescrew...I was dead last off the gate with a bad bog, but the checkup at the frist turn sweeper gave me the oppurtunity to hold it on to catch the pack. That pretty much was the last time I saw the pack:wondering . In the pic of me can you hear the suspention crying out:( ...check out the pack just above my visor in the same pic I think the kid in the back ground is giving the crowd more action than me....Now thats fat and slow! naaa just kidding. It was great to finally meet everyone...Alot of frist timmers this last race including myself...not to mention some of us were on our machines for the frist time. Good job to all who came out Tim Sr. always a pleasure..

I'm dialing this X out before next race... then I'm coming back for more!

Tammy and Rob your more than welcome: Thanks for all your help

It's always great to see all the new people show up. It's very addictive, and almost everyone is a return racer sooner or later. It's very suprising how hard you push yourself when your racing only to find out the next day about muscles you never knew you had, that are then aching. Funny thing about it is, everytime you stand up in pain you always seem to smile about it!

Few things I saw:

Raffa smoothed out alot this race and seems like he's getting more comfortable on an MX track. I look for him to be quietly working his way up in the pack.

ATC Eric suprised everyone with a killer holeshot in moto 2 and I think he could of held that for the win with a little better conditioning. Watch out for him if he comes back.

Kintore can not ride a 200X near as good as a 250R

ATC Tim CAN!

Team TPC got their first over-all win.

TimSr showed he still has it by turning up the throttle and spanking Jr.

The Moshers know how to holeshot!!

So does Russ.

YT175's RIP!

200X's ruled the day.

TRX250R's can still kill 450's on an MX track!!!!!

I just gota post this awesome shot Rick got of me coming down the face of a table. The little 175 really ripped this weekend! Maybe a little more tweaking and fixing it will be a contender. The leaking crank seal really hurt the performance. Otherwise it was a ripper!

That 175 is the bee's knees! What a blast! It has me considering finding one.

(just don't let rachel hear that)

I'm wondering though... How much do you think the suspension kit helped? Itrike said the SX felt like it may as well have been a hard tail and that was an OEM suspension. Did the aftermarket kit seem to do a decent job?

OTC was well represented in Jr Mini Quad class as well. The little guy on the red LT80 was from Jason Cook's camp. Derrick and Miranda brought the little guy on the Quad Zinger, and Sam's little girl rode the mini trike. Seeing these little ones getting started brought back memories!

Well guys I finally got the videos to work on youtube. Had to use a different format and in my personal opinion it looks like crap but atleast you can see them. What can you expect compressing 1gb to under 100mb. I will keep trying to get something better working. Until then here you go.

Crazy70man, i was told that you do not need a CRA card for coshocton. You just have to pay to race and they are waiving the CRA fee for the trike class.

Dammit!

I am SO freaking jealous of all you guys. I would love to be able to participate in all these events. Especially this time of year when most of the AZ trikers are still hibernating (scared of the snakes (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0944zU-OOTk) I think, lol).

Thanks to everybody that's posting pics and vids!

Doug, Catch a flight out here for the October race at Malvern. We'll pick ya up at the airport and you can stay the weekend here. We could do Malvern on Saturday and hit Lightening on Sunday. I'll race B-class on the 250R and you could run A-class. I also have my 350X. Whaddya think? No excuses now. lol

Oh there's plenty of excuses but I only need one. MONEY $$$$$$

I'm in the middle of my worst month in the car business ever. It's the 13th and I have one and a half units out. Weird thing is last month was my best month ever. I hate this business.

C'mon Doug, Catch a cheap flight out and race with us. All you have to pay for is the flight and the race. Everything else is covered.

This goes out to anyone that wants to come out. We got a place for ya to stay, eat and transportation. Came and experience it for yourself.
