ok dont get anyting under a 125 you wont be satisfyed. (sp?) if you get a honda dont get one that is older than a 97. you arnt going to be able to get any sponcors right off the bat learn how to ride and when you start winning at your local tracks then some of you local shops might start backing you up.

Check with what evertrack you are going to be racing and get a list of classes that they run, then decide on what bike is best to fit into whatever class you are going to run. There are usually a lot more classes in which you can run 125's, and you may find very little for 100's, and end up having to run a 100 in a 125 class anyways.

Sponsers want to see a resume that shows how often you race, and how well you perform. You dont necessarily have to be top performer as much as to be a frequent advertisement that projects someone using their product in a positive light. Frequent displays of poor sportsmanship can kill your chances more than lousy riding. Most are very unlikely to take on new riders, until theyve raced at least a full season. Dont expect a lot from sponsers. They dont cover your costs, but help with freebie items. Somebody might give you a chain and sprockets, or somebody might give you a tire, but its unlikely anybody will cover your costs. Entry fees can be anywhere from $20-30, plus gate entry fees. You also have the cost of the sanctioning body (AMA, CRA, etc.)

Hope this helps.

i'm 125lbs also. i can keep up with any (withen reason) 250 riders on my 125 all the guys i ride with have tricked cr250's or crf450's and they love driving my 125. The 125 is a good bike to learn on because its so small and light you learn how to put the 125 wherever you want and then when you move up to a 250 will have some control over it.

Yeah I tottally agree with you, I did'nt mean to make it look like he should'nt get a 125, i was just saying if he thinks he not heavy enough that to an extent weight may not matter. I know plenty of 125's that will smoke me  lol

If I were you, I would look into a KTM 125. The KTM's have been making quite a name for themselves these past couple of years.

You could also get a 250 4 stroke and race in the 125cc class, I could be wrong though.
You might be able to find a good 2 stroke cheaper then a good 4 stroke though.

yes the 250 thumpers are in the 125 class. but 125's are still strongly on top. went racing couple weeks ago and there where only 5 out of 20 bikes that where 125's (in my class) and all the 125's that finished where near the front.
