I'm a big fan of the CRKT model M16 pocket knife. I have three different versions of it and one is a police model. I've carried the police model with me for 5 years now. It's my favorite knife and can be opened very rapidly.
Here's the cheaper zytel handle tanto blade style.

I've got a Leatherman Squirt that's excellent and I've ALWAYS got it in my pocket but I'm guessing you want something bigger. The knife I have with a clip is a Schrade X-Timer that's been excellent. I lost it in the snow a couple winters ago and it went through the snowblower. I found it in the spring with no damage and in one piece. There was no rust on it either. It's pretty lightweight too.

Check out the Smith and Wesson baby/mini SWAT knives. Me and my brother have each carried the same knife for 8 years, best knife I've carried daily, I have about 20 knives, but always grab the S&W. I need to buy another one to stick back, looks like they have quit making this model, can't find it on the website.

that reminds me of when my dad dropped his leatherman in part of the long island sound in about 12 feet of water, took him to years but he got it with a magnet.it was covered in surface rust so just for a story he sent it back to them.they gave him a new one and said they might use his rusty one as a show piece:lol:

any how im liking that smith and wesson i might get that one of ebay

They are cheap, and easy to replace the blade, no worries of it getting dull

i ran the foredeck on a racing sailboat for several years,, the only requirement is a easy access VERY sharp knife as in an emergrncy situation you might have to cut through several wraps of kevlar ,, i carried a SPYDERCO, for years it is 15 years old and still extremely sharp,, it looks like this,,, very good knife,,,

I was waiting for someone to say that one kasey. Those things can cut through a seatbelt with one swipe.

Each tip on that serrated blade is sharp enough to slice skin with just the weight of the knife pressing.

I like to buy antique jack knives. They can be found in any antique store for under $40 a piece. They were made for a time when you really needed a good knife. They hold there edge great and are made better than most $100 knives are now. Simple yet effective...
