Are you racing the sled on ice? I would rig up slide lubers or drill a few small holes on the slide rails so snow can build up in there and it will keep the slides cooler and prevent melting. Other than the coil problem...mentioned before, the 292 kawasaki's were good motors. Grease the rear suspension also and check the drive bearings( inspect and re-grease) those two are pretty generic for any old sled.

was not planing on racing it, yet, just an old beater that shows up the 340's around here i love the power the ol singles got really unique sound as well here is the only pic i have on my pc rite now from when i got it two years ago. i have sense don some custom work on it, new style AC cat head made out of sheet aluminum on a blacked out chopped windshield and a custom head light run off the battery. o yeah did i mention its got electric start:p this weekend ill for sure get some new pics. thanks for the info

These are good old sleds. That 292 has more potential then what you think. can easily be changed from stco 24hp to 30 hp without any porting involved. I have a 292 lynx that I race . I have a blast driving it. Heres a pic of mine

my grandfather used to race the 292 lynx back in the 72ish era and then in 74 got a etx 340 and a 74 kingkat and a 74 turf tiger all 3 fairly rare sleds but was damn nuts back in the day

Nice, would give a left nut for a king kat or turf tiger.

those 292's really fly. I have one in a lynx that I race. I saw one run 62mph in 1000' on ice, it was not modded, i swear!.
