Im gonna do it. i swear. well, maybe.
I have a extremley limited budget, and In the intrests of saving money, im going to try to hobo engineer this entire trike.
The tires are from a old snowblower, the axle is a 3/4 inch galvy post from a horse shoe pit kit, the frame is a peice o crap asian 49cc minibike, The engine that i want to use is a 1980 185, but i will problay end up using a 70 - 110 honda or lifan. hope fully the only things i will have to buy are sprokets, bearings, and chain. Everything else I should be able to find/make. Aint this gonna be fun?

I think im going to end up using a 110 engine. Just got a free one, plus it will be alot easier to fit in.

hey everyone, Ive pretty much decided that the original frame is a peice of crap. CRAP I SAY!!!
anyways, I have an almost endless supply of every form and grade of steel immaginable, so don't think im crazy or anything, but how hard would it be to make a fully suspended frame to fit a 110 engine? what size of shocks should i use? I weigh about 120... Now Im starting to think that I dont want to turn this in to a crankenstein mobile, I want to have a small, light utility/trail trike that i can use to haul stuff around and have fun riding around the middle of nowhere with. kinda like a miniture 250sx. ya know? full on snorkel (i like to float), small hand weinch for pulling myself out of those really nasty spots. the works. but tiny enough that i can just roll it into a subaru.

do you think an axel out of a tri moto 175 would be an appropiate size?

so heres the skinny, Im building this thing at my local career center (because they have everything a teenage boy could ever want in a shop). I finaly talked all the teachers and what not into letting me use their "facilitys" so i have access to anything I could possibly want. I started building the thing on friday, its basicaly a sized down 250sx. i would scan my drawings in, but i dont have a scanner. oh well. Im not expecting this first one to turn out amazing, but it should be ridable. I just had a few questions for you guys.
1. where do you guys get replacement head bearings for all your trikes (tiny to large) Im strongly considering making my own head, and slowly finding out that the internet sucks for finding bearing size charts.
2. suspension. i weigh about 120, the suspended part of the bike will weigh out around 120ish. There is a small engines class at my school, and the dude running it says that if i can figure out what shocks i need, he problay has some laying around.
I will try to get pictues tommrow if i remember the camera.

For your axle, the easiest is a atc 90 axle and hub, have a look at the back of my aluminium 70 in mad scientists section.
