My buddy wants to run a different size tire on the rear of his 89 fourtrax. My question is, how does the T-case work on that unit? its full time AWD right? so for example, if he had say 22's on the front and 25's on the rear, wouldn't he grenade something? The revolution on the rear would be much longer than that of the front. Its not my quad so i know nothing about that for ATV's. But thats a big no no for any 4x4's ive worked on...... just curious.

if you have bigger tires on the rear the rear will slide all over the place but bigger tires on front will acually help pull the wheeler. but you cant ride on hard surfaces so unless he only rides in mud its a bad idea cuase like you said something will break tranny, u joint ect...

It doesn't have a center diff, so yes, the tires will be spinning at uneven speeds and will cause something to break quite quickly, and it will sound horrible on hard surfaces, due to the parts straining against each other.

He should either swap all 4, or nothing at all.
