What is a good quality helmet cam I can get on a budget? I don't want to spend a grand on one...

GoPro's are probably the best bang for the buck. I paid under $140 shipped for mine (brand new on ebay). They have a brand new model coming out anytime now. The HD Hero. Retails for $299. I'll probably sell my Hero Wide once I get my hands on the HD Hero.

Here's some info on the HD model.

Here's the one I have right now.

Are they wireless?

Fully self contained, wireless and waterproof to a hundred feet.

The ONLY thing I don't like about them is the shape. Something smaller and round would look less goofy on your head but it's a small gripe.

Awesome, thanks for the info Doug. I'll be getting one before snowmobile season starts.

From what im reading and seeing the GoPro is the best helmet cam out there. I was looking at footage from the net and it gives sweet quality video and sound. Maybe a newer one will be a bit smaller but that Go Pro Wide for $140 is a sweet deal.
I want one for those long Adirondack rides during the summer and when the Fall foilage is at its peak.

How long are the videos on one of these cameras?

56 minutes on a 2GB SD card however they just released a firmware update that will let you use a larger card. I think it still cuts you off at 56 minutes but all you have to do is hit record again. It just can't do one single clip over 56 minutes. They have to be split up.

Not sure about the HD one but the link above should have the details.
