Swine flu is BS. the Flu virus changes every year, and they just named the virus something "scary" to shift the focus away from what is actually going on. people die from the flu every year, this strain is no different than any other.

remember the "bird flu" and "mad cow disease" that was supposed to kill us all?
neither do i :D

First point:

H1N1 IS different than the "regular flu'. It has components of the "swine' flu and the "bird' flu. According to some much more educated than I, the chances of a strain of this configuration occurring naturally are almost ZERO. Where it came from is a matter for future deliberation and discovery.....possibly prosecution if it originated in a lab somewhere as suspected by MANY PhD's.

Second point:

H1N1 IS more dangerous than normal "seasonal" flu to the younger crowd.....you know, the children that are not hygenically minded and are cooped up shoulder-to-shoulder with other children all day long in government mandated indoctrination centers(schools).

The normal flu is most dangerous to the elderly...those who rarely congregate at the level of frequency children do.

H1N1 is most dangerous and deadly to my precious children....whom I must send into harm's way under penalty of law.

There have been several local deaths of children who's condition rapidly progressed from onset of symptoms, to hospitalization, to death....usually within 48 hours.

Alabama's Dept. Of Public Health is actually downplaying the danger to keep the kids in school(harm's way) for the sake of $$$.

If you have no children in school, then breathe easy and I'll envy you......just don't tell me and the parents burying their kids that it's ALL BS.

its all BS. people, young and old die from FLU every year, and probably more than you might think. regular flu killed about 36,000 people a year from flu and flu related causes. http://www.cdc.gov/flu/keyfacts.htm

So far, Swine FLu has killed 157 people
http://edition.cnn.com/2009/HEALTH/04/28/swine.flu.international/index.html

seems to me that the regular old FLU is much more deadly........can you smell the BS yet?

go give them the inadequately tested vaccine if you trust the government so much......

hmm...obama's gonna cut healthcare costs......swine flu pandemic......hmm, easy to cut healthcare costs if a man made disease sweeps the nation and kills 40% of the populace.......

What kills me, (not literally) is the people typically arent dying from the flu or H1N1... The people that drop from it, are already sick and dying, and whichever flu they get, well, it just finishes them off...

I am not trying to sound cruel or insensitive, but come on....

Also... How major of a business is the H1N1? Holy crap... I have never seen a vacine pushed so hard before in my life... Who is getting rich from this do you think?

Here here! That's good old uncle sam keeping the american populous in a panic. People in a panic spend more money, and other stuff I forget.:D

I don't watch the news, I don't wash my hands too much, I don't use antibacterial soap or hand sanitizer, and I haven't been sick in probly a year. Every day someone I know is coughing up a lung and hacking up phlegm. Don't believe the hype, people! We are but cattle to be herded as the american government sees fit!

While I do believe the H1 N1 is dangerous, more so than regular flu,

I do strongly believe it was man made for some hidden Govt agenda, such as the Healthcare plan.

I have avoided Fast food, and major store chains (where disease is most spread )and kept our family as close to home as possible,to try to lessen our chances of getting it..
Wait til next week when all the kids are trick-or treating, dipping their hands into each others bags, sharing candy and masks etc...
That is when you will really see the numbers go up..

This year, my kids get a candy hunt in the woods, right in our back yard..Instead of going out trick and treating..
Keepin them as far away as possible from too much public invlovement till this crap passes..

I do agree with alot of what you're saying Mosh, but I think hiding from this stuff is not going to help. If you're too clean (IMO), you're making yourself more seceptable (SP?) to catching it. Don't get me wrong, I don't go around licking doorknobs (at least not all the time), but too clean to me is just asking for it.

I can smell the old data, that's for sure.

Look at the date on the article you posted....April 29.

Try this one on instead....dated Oct. 21. The new number of deaths are over 800.....and I can assure you that Fox News isn't working with the gub'ment to hype the numbers in some sinister conspiracy.

That is true, it is no more deadly than any other flu strain. If you have an low immune system watch out. But that's not just this year thing. Thats an everyday thing. Eat veggies and have lots of sex (exercise) and life will be good. In my opinion you don't need a flu shot, only if you are in real poor health etc..

I am waiting for one of these flu vaccine so start causing zombies like in I AM LEGEND

After the flu shot episode...

oh wow....800. so far, the total deaths from H1N1 dont even trump the 3000 deaths a month from regular old flu......how long has H1N1 been hyped up as an end of the world disease? i can say easily 6 months, so that equals out to be...around 130 a month, but its been going on longer than 6 months, as 150 were dead in april.....

and it comes no where NEAR the amount of deaths smoking causes, around 33,000 a month (assuming smoking deaths have declined since 03-04)
http://www.cdc.gov/media/pressrel/2008/r081113.htm

about 410 people die a month from cars hitting pedestrians, so i guess we just shouldnt cross the street anymore either.
http://legalcatch.wordpress.com/2008/03/18/pedestrian-accident-statistics/

im not saying H1N1 isnt dangerous, but I think its safe to assume that you have a greater chance of drowning in the toilet than dying from H1N1......i mean, drowning is the second leading cause of injury related death in children 1-14 years old......

It's not an end of the world disease anymore than you are a health/safety expert.

Glad you're not concerned about much of anything(other than drowning in the toilet), but to some parents, ANY increased risk of losing a child is one too many to just stick your head in the sand and hope for the best.

Look at the number he's posting. It's in black and white. You really don't think they're putting hype on this stupid flu strain for whatever agenda they may have?

33,000 vs 800 for smoking

3000 vs 800 for the regular flu

H1M1 is only double the threat of me crossing the street? Hmm, seems like I should get really worried and go out to get a vaccine ASAP.

Well, his original numbers were based on a 6 month old article, so I put no faith in his research and about as much in his judgment.

Without a doubt, there is a lot of hype going on. I'm the LAST person to trust the government(I believe there IS an agenda to remake this US into a socialistic/fascist empire), but I do trust local media somewhat when they print the names and pics of dead children.

Depending on where you are in the country, you could be seeing few cases or mass absentees because of H1N1. It broke out faster in the southeast because schools started earlier in this area than most other regions, so we're seeing the effects more than some areas.

You tell me, the first Level 6 pandemic is a big deal or not?

I'm not saying pull your kids from school(just yet), wear a mask 24-7, bathe in chlorine bleach/turpentine every time you come in from the outdoors, but I am saying to PARENTS(...not kids or single folks only responsible for themselves)don't laugh it off and underestimate the danger....or ANY danger to your children...
if you're worth a trailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro as a parent.

Yes, teach them to look both ways before they cross the road, which end of a gun the bullets come out, don't friggin smoke, don't commit suicide by commode, and don't swap spit with someone in their class that's coughing/sneezing/running a fever for God's sake.

Geez people, how hard is it to play it safe and not cry conspiracy? Some want to get into a pissing match because more people die by XXX, when XXY kills too and being a bit proactive might save SOMEone. Isn't EVERY child death one too many? Who, among the parents here, are prepared to say goodbye to their son or daughter while the child is drowning in their own mucus in an ICU?

Worry a little bit for their sakes if you can spare the effort and don't mind being ridiculed on some internet forum for giving a trailpro trailpro trailpro trailpro.

More people die in automobile accidents, but train and plane accidents kill, too. Do you stand in front of an oncoming train or jump on a burning/leaking plane because of what some statistic says?

Use some common sense.

Point taken, and you didn't contribute to any argument. No harm, no foul.

Alot of the people that die as a result of H1N1 either have underlying medical conditions(asthma etc....) or have a secondary bacterial infection that complicates the 'swine' flu.

There have been untold thousands of cases of H1N1 in which the "victim" has fully recovered....thankfully.

My point is that statistics don't mean a thing when you're having to bury you child. Hopefully something I've said will lead to someone just reading along looking deeper into this illness and maybe taking a few precautions that spare them or their child becoming a negative statistic. Other than that, I'm done with this thread and wish ALL ya'll and yours good health and the best of fortunes.

uh, the last one 300rman posted is correct...people are freaking out, I just got over the swine flu and I did not even go to the doctor. lol here is what 70 percent of swine flu victims receive: Stuffy nose, coughing, 100-104 degree fever, raw throat, weakness, and head aches. And here is the regular fly symptoms: Stuffy nose, coughing, 100-104 degree fever, raw throat, weakness, and head aches. Lmao 30-20 percent have vomiting, diarrhea, no fever which is a real killer(not joking, how do you know your sick?), and a secondary infection in young children which is very deadly. I also just found out the regular flu has some of these uncommon side effects..

I had it. The flu was no big deal. It was over in 2 days. Everyone else in my family was fine after the two days. Including a 3 yo and 11 mo old. I on the other hand had the bacteria infection/pneumonia. Took antibiotics for 5 days and all good. It didn't help that I went hunting in the rain two days while sick either. I felt fine after the initial sickness, just congested terribly bad, with the worst tasting and smelling mucus I have ever had for nearly a week. My nose kept bleeding out both nostrils so I thought it was just a sinus infection until the Doc checked me out.
