In order to finish this build I need to order a seat, rear caliper (trx450r), lt & rt rad 650r, a big fat rim and tyre (stickin with the spikes, gas tank, and rebuild the rear shock.

I have another project to complete first, cr250r powered 450r quad. then I can do this. unless I find my africa twin. :D

Nothing really I was getting ready to re purpose my 450r chassis. Got to a bit of messing around and came up with this idea.

Yeah this is not anything close to the frames used for 250's or 450's. It off a big enduro. So instead of building a second I might see if I can pull off a trike. Goals buy as little as possible, then lace the front hub onto an 18" rim, instead of a 21". To run a big fat terraflex up there.

These are all any other picts I have, and no that 2 stroke is not going to be the powerplant, I have a 650r motor.

it will be a while before this comes together. It seems kind of common to build a trike around dirt bike frames. I feel that a big front wheel would be better then going with a more traditional 250r or 350x hub and aluminium rim.

This shouldn't be to crazy, one good thing this should be able to spin the wheels of at any time. It's been a while since I have ridden a trike, maybe over winter.

One thing i'm certain about is this frame will not get cut or modified to build this.

Just to clarify, you intend to use the dirtbike front tire on this project?

The front hub re laced to an 18" (36 spoke) rear width, around 2.5 / 3" wide. So I can pull on a nice range of wide tyres. Nothing so wide that I have to spread/offset the triple clamps.

The front rim on an xr650r is 21" x 1.6" 36 spoke. The rear is 18" x 2.5" 32 spoke. So I have to buy a rim and spoke set. Even though I want to keep it on the cheap side, aka "spare parts".

I hope that made sense.

you should throw a 350x front end on that thing

I think you will be better off just putting a 250R liquid front end on it then relacing a wheel and making the widest tire fit I think it will just push to much like that.

Not gonna modify this frame? Good luck, main issues i had with my project were swingarm fitment and sub frame and rear shock mount. not sure on the xr motor but on my crf the frame and motor mount holes for the pivot bolt is 2mm large than the trx pivot bolt. Tried many things to fix this, and ended up having custom bearing sleaves made by my buddy. If you plan to us the trx shock, then you will most likly have to lower your shock mount quite alot. As far as sub frame mounts i dont really see you being able to use the xr mounts unless you use the xr subframe=no fenders and skinny seat. I would switch to the trx450r subframe, and a custom airbox/intake boot.
Good luck man if you have any issues let us know, lots of help around here.
check out my pictures and some of the other dirtbike conversion pics should help.
let me know if you need anything or have some questions.
