Just bought this for my wife. Its almost 10 years old but like new inside and out. Doesn't leak anything and drives like new. Bought it from my boss for 4k. She was going to trade it in, but they only offered 3500 for it. So I told her 4k and she said sounds good. It blue booked for 6700 per the bank. I love it. Its our first 4wd vehicle. Garage kept its entire life. New tires also. Eddie Bauer edition, loaded. What do you guys think? My wife only drives around 7k miles a year.

Looks Great, my sister has the same exact unit. Becareful one of her spark plugs blew out of the head on the way home to NC a few years ago (blows the threads right out of the head). It's a very common problem and a fairly easy fix- no head removal to do the job! Other than that the only other problems they had were A/C problems, and something with the ABS if I remember correctly, but it was covered under a recall--that you may want to check into--if the connector failed the truck could catch on fire. Other than those small problems my bro-in-law swears by it and he want's to get the new body style Expedition. They're a nice rig.

Thanks for the heads up. I have read about the 5.4 liters blowing out spark plugs.

The fire ordeal is the Cruise Control unit, but that's been replaced. I am very impressed with how well its help up for 9 years. I have owned Honda, several nissans, several GM's, and several other Fords and this one seems to be the best. I know its mainly due to how its been taken care of.

I am selling our 2002 Cavalier that we bought new. We haven't done anything to it, not even replaced a bulb. Its been 100% perfect. My Silverado on the other hand has been a POS. We bought it new 3 years ago. Its had the exhaust replaced, steering shaft replaced, and fuel pump replaced. The gas gauge is not working correctly, and the front speakers don't work. Its at the dealer now for the fuel pump again. It was hit in the rear while sitting still by a car doing 45mph. I think most of the problems have stemmed from that.

I am thinking about trading it in for a Cobalt since I spend 80 bucks in gas a week driving the truck.

Did you steering shaft have the "clunk syndrome"? Sorry to hear about the silverado, I've had 2 pumps in my 97 Yukon (181,XXX miles though), it sux they incorporate the sending unit into the pump assembly. I can have mine swapped in about 1 hour now(had the tank down a few times). I still have the orig exhaust from manifolds to tailpipe and showing no signs of age! Like I said my B-I-L loves his EXPED. I love the Fords but got a great deal on my Yukon, I could sell it in another 15 years and still either break even or make money, and I've owned it since 03 and have been driving it since 01 (My old company wheel). Better luck with this one.

very nice vehicle buddy. My cousin had one for quite a few years.

don't forget and leave it in 4wd. thing will suck down a tank of gas on the hwy faster than you can blink.

imho those look infinitely better than the new model they have out!

Not sure. It would rattle none stop with every little bump. You could feel it clanking around through the steering wheel.

The Expedition has It has 120k miles on it.

Just a FYI, they probably didn't replace the shaft, and next time it starts happening(It's a GM, it will happen again ;) ) , just take the 15MM bolt on the intermediate shaft under the hood, and take the upper shaft and shove it towards the steering column about 5-6 times and it will recirculate the grease and be gone for a while again. After you take the bolt out, make sure you don't let the wheel spin around keep the two ends of the shaft aligned so you don't blow out your clock spring.

Nice Expedition btw.....when you gonna change the plugs on it?? ;)

I am a huge fan of the expeditions. I had a 1999 as a company vehicle. My wife loved it so i bought her a new one in 2006 and now we are looking at getting the new extended length ones because of the new addition. The only problem we have had out of the 2006 was the brake booster went out about 6 months ago. Of course that was a very easy fix.

I have to give big props to GM. The Fuel pump on my truck tested good. So they think its a short in the gauge itself, which is out of warranty. I also told them about the front speakers not working. Anyways, they are replacing the entire instrument panel and fixing the speakers. All parts and labor free. The dealer said that GM has already agreed to send the parts under Good Will. The dealer is Alexander. Couldn't be happier.

Also the check engine light has been on and off for two months. I hit a deer about the time it started happening but I figured it was related to the fuel pump. Turns out that the body shop didn't install the gasket right on the thermostat keeping it from closing. They fixed that as well. I am not sure why they even removed it, but the radiator was replaced. The dealer could tell it had been worked on.

JD. I know about the issue with greasing the steering shaft. I have looked at buying one of the kits that makes it easier to squirt in there. They said it was actually broken. I figured it was from my first wreck in the truck since it was right after the wreck. But it could have been just the grease. It happened around 60k miles ago. No issues since. I think I am going to keep the truck now.

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions.

I think I will change the plugs once it absolutely needs it.

too little too late for em....

so the tstat wasn't closing at all or wasn't closing all the way?

cause not closing all the way, there's is that slim chance you could have hit a really nice operating temp lol

My best friend has a 90's Yukon as well. His dad bought it new and gave it to him a few years back. Its always been a great truck. It has over 200k on it and nothing major has been done to it. They are sweet looking trucks. His is loaded. The leather is just now starting to crack and the dash has a crack on it. Nothing else though.

I noticed it was running around 160, but I didn't know what it should be. Now its around 210. I got the truck back tonight, but have to take it back once the parts get in.
