How much oil does it take for the motor? Is there a screen or a oil filter? Anyone have a set of rear gold dx rims for sale? Thanks!

They rerccomend 20-40. I run a 20-50 Castrol Syntec blend in the summer and 10-40 in the winter. By the way, where are you located? I live in the Canton,Potsdam,Massena area. Later, Chuck

Durring the summer I always use bel-ray 20-50, and 10-30 durring the winter months. I havent used it since summer, so before you ride it, you may want to put in thinner oil. I am gonna give you the service manual along with it, so any stuff you need to know will be in there.

I'm really having a tough time finding a manual for the tecate. One of the guys on this sight gave me a link to a place and they have one for an 84, but they are waiting on someone that asked them to hold it for him....
I got the Dx running a little while ago, for the first time in months.. Took forever.. I had to keep putting a shot of gas down the spark plug hole till it finally stayed running..... Ran great, I rode it up and down my street for at leat 20min, I forgot how much fun it is to ride after only riding the mojave for the past 2 months.... Its a wheelie monster, a little gas and the front end is right up..... You'll definitely want to put in the thinner oil before you take it out, the 20-50 is way too thick for cold weather....
I noticed thayou had asked where to get rear bearings, they are available almost any where, dennis kirk has them single or in a kit, I think the kit is 35 or something like that....

That does suck your having trouble finding a manual, i'd just keep checking e-bay and on this site for someone who might have one. Heres a site all about tecates, maybe someone on there will have one. http://www.geocities.com/Baja/Dunes/6243/. I'm glad to hear the dx is running good :D

Clean the carb out, mine was doing that, and I had to replace the float valve and seat... Those parts are only available from yamaha, and ended up costing me 30 for just that....
Or check the spark, is it big and blue, or small and red?

Guys, I'm rebuilding an old Yamaha 225DX, 1985 model and I need several parts starting with both front and rear yokes, cross joint, drive shaft, compression spring and coupling... Just to name a few. Does anyone have these parts used? Thanks
