thought id throw up some pics of my truck put a lot of work into rebuilding it this summer, new break lines shoes etc, fuel system, body job, new paint, painted frame and inner fenders, box liner, rail caps, tinted windows, clarion speakers 2 10inch lighting subs and a lighting amp, ken wood deck, tool box, custom carpet, CB and a 3 foot whip American racing wagon wheels with white letter tires. I did all the work myself, and mostly outside until paint, its a 1993 GMC Sierra with a 4.3L(i no) Auto, gas pig but gets me around and pretty quick too.

That thing is nice! And it's even better because it dosen't have a blue oval on the front.

Looks great to me. I would assume with all of the stereo mods your still in school? If that is true then I'm even more impressed, at that age you took on a project like that and made it look so good.

haha yeah still in school, but its only 120$ worth of stereo stuff, i just turned 17 in July. total of 1200$ into it, got the truck for free after it was sitting for a year, pretty well rotted, but i saw the potential.

thanks for all the complements, I actually just picked up the subs and amp the other night for 60$ wired it up tonight and they rattle the windows just fine, gotta build a box tho the one i got now is huge. as for lowering it, theses pics are the cleans as it been, it gets used and abused down old dirt roads regularly, ill take a current pic once i get my subs in, sadly i had to change my windows back to stock tint :( looked so good with them, but i guess the cops don't care for looks over law.

I'm going to have to "borrow" that truck when your not around!
I'll probally get myself a truck in the spring, but I've had my eye on a '93 Chev 1500 on Kijiji.

thought itd post up some new pics of my truck, it its current look, swaped out the grill, for an 88 duel headlight set up, got a visor on it, with custom GMC and lights, duel cab whips, and a center 3 foot whip, black rims with some old studded witers on em, and a good coating of NB salt. after fighting the automatic tranny all winter, its gotta go, currently looking for a truck, with a 5 speed to swap mine over, and getting rid of the 4.3 at the same time, putting in the 305 out of my 90 scottsdale parts truck:twisted:

Nice work, good job. I would try to get a 350 if possible. Not much difference in a 305 and a 4.3 liter. Still an upgrade though if you have no other option.

got the 305 already and its lower mileage than my 4.3, probably easier on gas too, but i drive a full size truck daily who cares about MPG

Since you have it then yeah, thats a given. Go for it.

I saw you last week sometime after school, and I thought the front end looked different. I don't think you saw me, I was in a dodge dakota, the one with the loud exhaust.

That is great that you restored your truck from that condition. I have a beat up old dodge sitting in my driveway, maybe I should fix it up like you did. Congratulations on the job you did fixing it up.

Thanks for the complements, as far as it being a Chevy i could care less, my back window has the kid peeing on a Chev bow tie, its a GMC, a high class Chev lol before i decided to fix this up i was gonna do up a 82 dodge full size 4x4 318 4bbl, and right now I'm looking at a Honda car, so I'm not brand loyal and i can never understand why people are. for the truck, now that its spring, i got my American Racing white spokes, with sport king, and general grabber white letters back on, 20% tint on the sides, rebuild my sub boxes, a lot clearer sound now, just had to do front breaks and a wheel cylinder, and sway bar link kits, next thing other than the 305 5 speed swap, is probly gonna be a level kit and maybe some 31's if i can find a set cheap enough. long post i know...

been working on the truck some more. Got the 305 pulled from the parts truck, needs a set of exhaust manifolds, possibly headers, but 800$ for a true dual system is a bit outta my range so probably not. still haven't found the right transmission to stick behind it yet, ideally i want a getrag NV3500, but finding standard trucks around here is like finding 69 Cameros, but ill find the right one soon. decided to throw a cherry bomb on it for now, side exit in front of rear wheel, made the tail pipe out of a maganaflow system off the parts truck 2.5 inch glass pack:mad: and finally a pic of my lighting audio system, dig the sub boxes?

it wont be for another month or so, need to find an older auto tranny or standard first gives me time to clean up the 305 a bit tho.

bought an 89 chev wrangler with a 4.3L 5 speed this weekend, soo soon my truck will no longer be a V6 or automatic. Also found out tonight the my 305 is actually a 350 sweet deal or what, the same truck it came out of has a posi rear end and i only paid 200$ for that truck.

done alot of work sence last update, been a 350 5 speed for almost two months, love it fun to drive gets tons of looks, and when you tell people it used to be an automatic get tons of WTH looks, then they start looking for any automatic parts that would give it away, there are none haha. easy swap to do, had to weld in clutch pedal bracket, everything else was bolt on, changed almost of of the wiring harnesses, changed the interior color form burgundy to Gery. hardest part of changing the engine was getting to the bolts on the motor mounts. my clutch is getting weak now, as i used the old one from the parts truck, but im not out nothing for using it, but a weekend to change it. at the point im at now.. my truck is sitting were i work with no drive shaft. was out playing and dumped the clutch SNAP the 21 year old aluminum shaft couldn't take it. and my prom is in less than 48hours witch i was planing on taking it to. fun fun fun.

I'd lend you the drive shaft from my truck if it would work lol ...Hell, I'd let you use my whole truck, but I dought you would want to use my pile of rolling rust lol

I assume you've already checked every junk yard in the city, and now it's a little to late even if you did find one

she rolled through prom last night. used a piece of 4inch OD pipe inside, with 20 self taping screws, redneck engineering indeed but it work, now its parked till i find a parts truck, 500$ to get one built. and no junk yard has or can get one, rare part. also came up with the idea of getting a 4x4 truck and swapping my body and 350 over..:D

I didn't know it existed until i seen it, it has the same badges and graphics as the 80's GMC wrangler half tons, but the 88-98 body style . just another model like silverodo or Scottsdale. It may just be a Canada thing not sure.

500 bucks for a driveshaft????? That come with a bowl of ice cream too???? Holy crap, thats retarded expensive... You should be able to get a steel one built for about 125 bucks or aluminum for 250 price range.... $500 should get you a aluminum shaft that would handle 800 horsepower... I could hook you up with a driveshaft shop here in MN, who could make and ship you a shaft for alot less than 500 bucks!

I thought that was a lot, what would the price range be on getting one built and shipped? Not in a big hurry to get it fixed now, bought a 87 Nissan 4x4 for now.

thanks thrope
got 650Kms on the Jerry rigged drive shaft, bought a drive shaft of a 98 chev half ton today at work for the price of scrape aluminum, weights 12lbs, .50 cents a pound, 6$ drive shaft should work out great, im happy and saved a good 400$.

dunno, 500 isnt all that bad, depends on application/project. I guess like everything! I just upgraded yokes/joints and custom shafts (2 slip) one solid with carrier bearing for my project was around 1600. This also included the driveshaft loops/retainers if I somehow snap them. Good for around 1k torque..tho I am only makin a bit over 700 ft lbs to keep it streetable. Probably will lose my alum stator in the torque converter way before that

Im not dealing with that ,much power to make it worth it to put that much money into a drive shaft. the stock 350 is enough for me, with a good clutch it should pull a lot better, started slipping bad recently, and you can smell clutch after going up hills, so new clutch soon as well. and if i may ask what is your project sounds nasty.

great work!!! its nice to see a bucket turned into a reliable fun truck. but if it was a ford you wouldnt have to work on it as much, and you could also take it offroad ;).

Just messing with the chevy guys. good work! just keep working your trailprotrailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro off.
