So what would make a better all around MX trike? I rode my 350x at Smith Road this year and had a blast so I want to get a few more races in next year. I like my X and am going to keep it but would a 2nd gen 250R be better on the track?

I know water coolers are the way to go but since I am keeping my X I can’t justify spending the extra cash on one.

Since the News of the 350X BigBore from All Things BigBore aka ATC Eric. I'd be inclined to possibly hunting down a topend/complete motor to your machine. The way to go would be a complete motor...just Swap out the MX motor for each race if desired, then at the end of the season sell the BigBore as a complete low hour motor. If you decide it's not for you....You have the trike already...so a freash motor as to a complete resto on a Liquid R seems like the cheaper route.

The 250R is 30lbs lighter. So if I was doing MX, I would lean toward the 84 R. If you were talking an 82R, I would then have to go with the 350X (better ergos and suspension).

Id go 350 with a Big bore, but a liquid R is the ultimate route Fox. Try hard to find one man, even if you gotta sell both. You WONT regret it!

I raced 1 season on a 350X and one season on an 84 R. The air cooled is hands down winner. You can set them up just right for MX on a budget and you'll find you can hang with the liquid cooled guys. 1st step is pipe, reeds carb, and suspension. Along with proper width (wheel spacers) and tire selection - and they are a great MX bike.

Depends on the track. 350X will do well on tight tracks with little air like indoors, but Im with atctim - The 250R will do better in most cases, and the advantages of the liquid cooled are mostly hype. Ive ran a few races behind him on his. At this stage, I wouldnt dump tons of serious money into it. Youre just getting started!
