Hi guy, here is the result of my work tonight!!! After 1:30 of work check it!!I was supposed to part out this rought 250sx with a bad axle but I finally give her a second life!probably the first one built,I have never see another one anywhere. The differential and the 2 swingarm part are from a suzuki gs650 1981,and I use the front of the SX swingarm. Can wait to take a ride!!!!

Is there a hole in the engine case where the shaft drive comes out of the trans/left side engine case?

atc500x

Yes it's a hole, the engine is supposed to be good but I will replace this part,I have a lot of them.Anyway I think the biggest challenge is the rear wheel setup!

hahaha that is way to cool well at least with the shaft drive you will not have to mess around with chain adjustment and the jackshafts!

NICE BUILD!!

I know you've got trikes and skillz but:

Take that counter shaft out while the motor is on the side or thrust washers and parts get lost..... Many guys just pull the 3 bolts and thats the end for most :D

I know for the counter shaft removal,it's the previous owner that try to remove it :) It's the reason why I paid 50 for the whole bike :)

This is awesome. I'm interested to know what the final speed will be with the different gearing at the back.

Very Nice job, very clean.I wish the mfgs would stop producing over priced hi tech junk that no 1 wants or can afford and go back to trikes an fat cats, basics so to speak.KISS less is more, enough is enough w all this p/s bs and efi.Just more trailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro to break and leave your ass stranded in the woods 20 miles out sol w out being able to jiggarig it to get back to camp.Keep it!

very nice ,I'd also like to make a fat cat out of one of my trikes. how did you connect the drive shaft, and what wheel did you use. and was the suzuki hub the same width as the swing frame?
Thanks Dan.

Do you still have the fat cat. If so, how has it held up? Did the drive shaft work without any mods?

atc500x
08-25-2014, 10:15 PM
I still have it and never had ANY issue with it.Reliable as the stock 250sx.Drive shaft need modification to fit.

No sorry no picture of the shaft. It's simply the gs and sx shaft welded together with a bushing over it.

Is the brake assembly aluminum? How did you weld it to the cable mount you added in the rear? Looks like steel to aluminum?

atc500x
07-29-2015, 11:05 PM
Cable mount is steel and welded to the swingarm

Nice build! I'm looking at doing the same. I have a question regarding the rear wheel. Did you just use/modify the rear driven hub assembly from the GS650? How'd this work with the SX rear drum brake?

atc500x
02-02-2020, 09:10 AM
Basicaly,it's a modified 250sx rear Wheel (removed about 1 inch in the middle),a 250es front hub modified (so I used the 250es drum brake),the gs650 rear end drive on the Wheel, check picture tou can see how it's installed on the rear wheel
