I've got a 70lb 30inch draw Bear compound bow I play with some, haven't really hunted with it any. Doesn't have sights or anything. I did shoot an aluminum arrow (With no tip) throw a 55 gallon drum about a 100ft away with it :-)

thats a waste of a bow...get you some sights and actually do something with it.

Its not a waste...during 4th of July I buy cheap arrows and and we wire tie fireworks to it and someone lights them and I launch them, hehe. Its not like I bought it new, it was like $20 at a yardsale 10 years ago.

Rifles kill dear faster but bows are made to track them to make em suffer  And to add some sport too it.

Yeah I wish we could use crossbows in ny too there fun! And thats not why they wont let you hunt deer with them. Becuase they are too small of a gun lol. They are a "rodent" gun lol. I see them as a all purpose gun :D

I got a PSE that I ues for bow fishing. Theres a local sport shop by me that sponcers a carp shooting compitition for cash and prises. All I can say is try it its fun. All you need is a fishing license. It beats the hell out of shooting at a paper target.
Heres a site that shows what im talking about.

I will be entering my 18th year of bowhunting in about a month(deer).. bowfishing is also a blast.

The bow I use is an older Hoyt/Easton competition(target) with only 30% let off .. not much let off but as accurate as they come. I shoot aluminum arrows. The carbon have not impressed me that much with the durability issue of target shooting ... it gets expensive breaking carbon.... At 75 lbs (what I hunt at) a tree branch would likely have very flat trajectory(sp?) shot out of this bow.

I use only recurve bows and blackpowder rifles. Anything else would be like riding a quad. Or to quote another on this site "having a sister in a whore house" Both of these kills were on my property. One on left was taken with blackpowder, tree stand 150 yds. The one on right was take with recurve, 20yds, ground blind.

The nicest bow I ever shot was my buddy Gabe VanWormer from Michigan Out of Doors bow. It has the red dot scope on it and is accurate as heck. Any of you Michiganders watch a shoot on bow fishing for carp that is another Buddy of mine that I work with. It was just filmed last week (friday) so it won't be on for a while.

I've been bowhunting for 11 years now, and I've shot 3 elk and 2 deer. I have a Martin Phantom Mag bow at #70 draw with a Super Doodle rest, and a Tropy Ridge 5 pin sight. I finally shot my first 6 pt bull 2001 and it was a all nighter packing him out, but it was well worth it :-D
I rifle hunt as well, but hunt deer and elk with a bow. In 2000, I shot my first bear in the lungs with my 300 Win Mag with 180 gr Nosler Ballistic Tip reloads from 700 yds out, and she flipped over and rolled down the ridge like a sack of spuds. She looks great on my wall and she was excellent on the dinner plate :-D Here is a pic of a nice whitetail buck I got last fall during the late archery/muzzleloader season.

Im an proud bowhunter,

We dont have many deer in Australia especially in Nsw. So the main species i hunt are Cats, Foxes, Rabbits, Goats, Pigs, Ducks, Hares and whatever else.

Ive shot a few bunnies, a goat, birds, cat (dident retrieve it) another big billy that i dident retrieve. A few of my rabbits have got away on me too.
Ive been hunting about 2 years. I use a 35 pound bear little delta set at 25 inches. I shoot release aid and have sights. i have wood arrows with the ever reliable 2 blade davies broadheads on them.

I have a Martin Phantom Mag bow at #70 draw

I was lookin to get one of these bows in the near future!!
how do you find its performance??????? does it have good accuracy and does it hit hard?????

Fast416ex
08-12-2003, 12:02 PM
The Phantom Mag is very accurate and it hits hard with the right splined arrow for the draw weight of the bow. The bow only weighs a little over #3 bare, so it's light and comfortable to pack in the woods :-D
