View Full Version : Is it just me, my porn infested PC or the site?? Slow and not consistent.... For me!!

I have unfortunately nothing but slowness since the site got back up......

Is it my PC?? I scanned the Norton (just bought it) and it removed one "ad watcher blah blah" but nothing else.

The pages take a long time to load on Verizon FIOS and when I scroll down, it gets there but then jumps back up to the top and I have to scroll again?

When I try to drop the menu for another forum, that takes seemingly forever and next thing I know I've clicked on the wrong forum.

I do not have a 2010 PC with tons of memory , the newest processor and a huge hard drive, but it's not too bad either.....

CNN. com works fine for me and it's filled with ads etc etc and I don't have an issue at .org either??

Is it me? or a little me and the new software? either way it's not making my visits very "fun" anymore and I hope there is a glitch that can be changed.

I for one will be happy to throw the board 25$ a year to help pay for the costs if we can keep it running well..... And I'm as broke as I've ever been, but I care about the board and the people within! :D

Please share your board experiences.

And if you can suggest a good anti spy/ad program I can d - load, please let me know........... Maybe that may help??????????

THANK YOU!!

Dammit!

I haven't had a problem so much with slowness. For me it either works or it doesn't. There are some mystery bugs being worked out but the guy responsible for it is on vaction anyway. I suggest you bump this thread after Monday.

I use malwarebytes to clean up the computer when it slows down or gets a virus. The AVG free anti virus is free and it checks your computer for adware, viruses, and spyware. The avg works great. I used to buy the Norris, but the AVG free works just as good or better.

I use AVG and Hitman Pro for getting rid of spyware and the like. I don't think it's your computer, though, especially if other sites work fine. I know I've had some hit 'n miss problems with loading here since the new site too.

I use no antivirus and the site works perfect for me. I use Firefox as my browser most of the time. But works fine on Chrome and IE also. My other PC is linux and the new site works fine there as well. I always had issues with the old site when replying to a thread. Works great now.

Spybot is good. Also a good free scan in Housecalls by trend micro. Its a one time online scan. It scans for everything, spy-ware, virus's, gray-ware, and updates.

Yes, but how well is your other stuff loading??!!

I'm so tired of the vidz/sound not being in sync.

I gotta talk to Johnny Seabass and see what he has up his sleeve.

Seems like plenty of guys do still have some issues though...... Maybe it's just the single guys shens

Lol, this is a funny thread. I remember when i used crappy microsoft products. Having to scan for virus's and malware. Its been some time since i have ran anything with a microsoft logo on it. You guys need to look into using Ubuntu. It is sooooooo much better than windows. I cannot even describe how much better it is. leaps and bounds. considering its free, i dont know why people keep paying for windows. you basically pay to have problems with your PC. same with norton, you pay for your own personal virus. So it can pop up all the time and tell you to update, or to scan or that you have malware. seriously though look into Ubuntu and free yourself of windows crap..... id post the link to the site, but i dont know what the rules say about links. just google it, its version 9.10 if anyone is serious about it. PM me if you want help....

and no i dont work for the company. Its really that much better.... lol

its on your end, sites fine. how ever i might sugest to not use norton anti virus anymore, my dad used it for years and every year we needed to take it to be cleaned out. a net tech friend told him virus people hit norton harder then other programs such as spy bot sweeper i think its called. thats what i have now and 3 years later its faster then my g/fs moms who uses compast which is load viruses and slowness.

i use DSL from veriszon on my end and never down load a thing!

While I agree microsoft is the devil, and I love Ubuntu, I would not recommend anyone to just switch to Ubuntu. Unless you like learning everything all over. Yeah it is free but it is also not virus free (Nothing is) and is nothing like Windows. Open source just makes it harder for virus authors to find holes to exploit. I don't recall ever seeing a Unix, Redhat, Ubuntu advertisment on TV. That's why Microsoft is so huge. They advertise every day all day long. Mac is doing it now too with their funny (Not always true) ads Microsoft vs Mac. I have tried to get my family to switch to linux but they know how to use windows and don't want to learn something new all over again. I guess if you could get them BEFORE they started using a computer you might save them a TON of gray hairs..lol My 2cents on Linux vs Microsoft.

To the OP you may want to clear your browser cache. Thats what happend to mine on my Vista and XP box both when the site swapped over. It was super frustrating. Now it is happy camper.

I'm not denying there are still some issues, but the site has been working particularly well for me the past week and a half. We are running the absolute bleeding edge when it comes to forum technology now though, so a few things here and there are to be expected. They will get resolved as time goes on.

it just now took me 5 min's to load up the site, once with it saying error, and it finally loaded. my computer is up to date with good internet.

I rarely have issues here but I had a heck of a time getting pages to load to post a classified ad and to reply to a post in the Racer's Lounge.

I'm on a Mac, and I'm having problems too. We're out in the country and on a pretty low-speed satellite internet connection, so I assumed it was that that was causing the trouble. However, it IS definitely since the new version of vBulletin.

You Linux guys kill me. It''s one thing for IT types (I'm one of those) to use Linux, but something else entirely for the general public. I don't recommend it to regular end users. Although Ubuntu is definitely simpler than all the rest of the Linux distros, it's still pretty much a by-geeks-for-geeks type OS.

Frankencelery, can you run a tracert on the site in a command prompt (tracert 3wheelerworld.com) paste the results here and let me see if its network or server related slowness...I was on satellite for years so I feel your pain.

Yeah, look how many hops it takes just to get out of Wildblue's network. Geez, satellite is slow enough without all that crap going on! It's not the Mac, BTW, I could have gotten the same results on one of my PC's but it's what I usually use at home. And for that, I get to pay $80 a month! On the flip side, I get to ride and deer hunt in my back yard, so everything is a tradeoff!

SeaBass8
01-25-2010, 02:58 PM
Yeah that seems like a lot of hops just to get out of your providers network.

DC - Yikes... scarey image there...

I'll trade ya some PC Tech time for some ATC Tech time... lol Just waiting for you to give me a call. Don't wait too long though, I see a new job on the horizon. Also you need a dedicated Porn PC. Never use your main PC to surf porn. Dosent matter what type of anti-virus you use its gonna jack your PC up. Um from what I hear any way.
