hey all, names tom ( if ya's couldnt already tell from my username :P ) I have a rather untidy yammi yt175 that i am slowly fixing up, bought it off a couple of young kids who thought it would be heaps of fun to continually drop the bike into gear at full revs only to smash the clutch assembly to bits :( . Anyhow, while trying to figure out how to fix the resulting carnage I came across this site so be prepared for some noob questions from me!! (first trike). Looking forward to chatting with you all.

Hey Tom, welcome to the site! There are actually some pretty knowledgeable YT175 people around here. I'm not real familiar with them myself, but I'm sure we can help you get it figured out.

Joined a while ago but couldn't log in. Looks like I'm back! I never posted really, just reading and learning. I have had several threes and now I'm expanding. Currently down to my Yamaha 200E Shaft Reverse, sort of a hard one to find, my keeper. Maybe getting a Blue 225 tomorrow. Snows coming down pretty good right now though. Anyway, nice forum! I just registered my 200E so its legal now to use at events etc. If time allows I might drive over to the upcoming Ice Fest at Conesus Lake. Can anyone fill me in on what goes on and what its about???

hello everyone. i'm a trike fanatic from north of the border. I grew up riding an ATC185 and moved up to a 200. eventually ended up with the 200 engine in the rigid 185 frame. stupid, yes, but i crossed a small lake with it once. anyhow, i've been off three wheels for too long and i'm looking to buy a 250R or 350x. even a 200x would do in a pinch. if anyone knows of one for sale in the vicinity of BC or even washington, let me know

hello my name is jason r and a new member here but not to 3 wheeling. my roots go back to 1984 when i was 10 years old i got my first trike- a honda atc 110. a year later a brand new atc 200s. then in 1987 i got my 1st quad a 1986 suzuki quadsport. by 1989 i got my drivers license and sold my toys to get a mustang. ten years later i finally came back around and got a 1986 fourtrax 250r which i had the motor worked new handle bars new seat cover and pipe and when i smoked my buddies 350 banshee in a race i got hooked again. that is until my 1st son was born and in 2002 i sold it for a down payment on a vehicle for the family. anyway just last year i found myself getting near my mid life crisis( am 37 years young now ) and got a 1984 200x with a blown bottom end off a buddy of mine for 150 bucks. bike has been in his garage under a tarp since 1996. well i got a motor for it ran it and since i havent ridden a trike in nearly 20 years it felt like i never left. man if anything makes me feel like 16 again its going out blasting away on my x. my x is currently in the shop getting some trans and swingarm work done so i will post it up when i get it back. i have every dirt wheels mag from 1984 to 1988 including a few 3wheeling mags as well. i had subscriptions back then and stored all of them in my parents attic and just recently dug them out. anyway its great to see this site about 3 wheeling and happy to be aboard. long live the trikes ! peace......

Hi, hows it going everyone, my names Justin. I just bought a 1984 Tecate 250 for $500. Pretty nice machine for the money. Im just starting to go through it so i figure this would be the best place to get some info. I own a 300ex but a bunch of guys I know get a few trike rides together every year in Wisconsin so i kind of got interested in them again. My first trike was a Honda atc 70 and also owned a 225 dx but those are long gone.

My name is Robert and I live in central Fl. I grew up ridding 3 wheelers, had a coupe 110s and now I just bought a 200s for $200.00. All it needed was a new carb and I am in business. I ride with a group of guys and we usualy end up at Holopaw which has alot of trails and mud... The only problem is I have the only 3 wheeler and everyone else has quads. ( And I spend most of my time pulling them out of the mud..lol) I would like to meet some people to ride with us. As long as you like mud you will be fine... lol

So im always lookin for a new project and i bought a "red honda 3 wheeler that runs" for $100 sight unseen long stroy short i get the trike home figure its an 80'-83, 185s based on engine number its fairly clean but "runs" is the operative word this thing idles ok but when you gas it it blows compression back through the carb and has no power. This thing wont run for trailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro! i started with the basics rebuilt the carb new plug checked timing, valves, all looked good had 175psi compression but still runs the same and is blowing compression out the crankcase. so i figure it needs a top end tear it down this thing is clean inside! timing chain etc is good and correct piston is stock bore looks good rings look good can still see hone marks on cylinder. hmm. there is some play with piston in the bore. did someone just re ring this thing and its blowin by cause it needs a bore n piston or what im tempted to throw it together and just sell it but i want it to run and ride so im up for advice from any of you guys maybe some one can shed some light on this beast!

Hey hey. Why didn't I run across this a long time ago? I got my 85 250R when I was 14 and have never owned any other bike in the past 12 years. I crash dirt bikes everytime I get on one, and quads are too much like driving a car or something. I love my trike.

Hello everyone' New member here! I picked up a 85 350x a few weeks back and have decided to tear it down and rebuild..Long story short it is in pieces in the garage right now and waiting on parts, I am replacing the forks, bars, rear shock, rear caliper & master cylinder, bearings all the way around and beefing up the frame, it has the normal brake below rear motor mount. This is not my first Trike but with the way my luck goes I am sure I will need some advise getting this back in shape. Look forward to hearing from some other 3 wheel riders. Here is a short clip of my cousin riding it before I started tearing it down.

Hello! I'm from Hinton Alberta Canada. Been checking this site out for a few years just never joined. I was a kid when three wheelers were banned but was always fascinated by them. Now my goal is to try and ride as many different trikes as I can and take each and everyone on a few adventures. We live in awesome atv country with thousands of trails. I owned an atv business for quite a few years so I know a thing or two about wrenching. :) I will help anyone with mechanical questions when ever I can.

im a new member i dont have too much to offer but i will do my best in any way i can. the reason i joined is to get some advice on a old 3 wheeler i have been rebuilding for the past 3 months or longer. its a 1984 Big Red 200es. i see that i am not the only still trying to keep them alive. im a carpenter by trade and i have never claimed to be nuts and bolt guy. but there is no way i can afford these new bikes. and this one my family has alot of attachment to. we are the first and only owners on it. and i cant have some one charging me tons to fix it. so all i need is some serious help.

Hey, my name is Andrew. I've never joined a forum before so I'm still trying to figure out how it all works. I found this site trying to find a website that could help me with my trike problem's and from what I've seen so far I think this is the perfect place. I have an 81' 185s that won't stay running. This started happening after I got a newer piston and head put on. I'm thinking either the timing or the carb but am not quite sure. The other is a 200 yamaha that I haven't picked up yet. As far as I know all it needs is a gasket and a clutch. Any help would be cool. Thanks

Hey, just checking in, great site. I came across a raggedy ATC-125M about 4 months ago, wasn't sure what I wanted to do with it but started building it back up when I found this site. I got a couple pics in my album. Started off as a basket case ATC-125M, most of the wiring gone, no plastic, bad tires. Wife could have killed me when I brought it home. But now, after adding 30% of parts from a old TRX125, custom wiring and some tubes, it's a rideable machine. I'm calling it XTRACT-125M. I'll be asking some questions as I go along.

Hello. My name is Shea. I'm an accomplished rider and have owned and ridden dirtbikes(Motocross and Enduro), ATC's and Quads since I was about ten. I live in Big Sky Country(Montana). I love to ride in Montana's Majestic natural beauty and take pictures. My current active machine is a Yamaha Grizzly 550 4X4 EPS. I am starting the project of restoring my 1984 ATC200X, of wich is pictured in my profile pic. It has been in boxes for about twenty-four years and not all of it in the same place at the same time.

I'm 100% disabled Gulf War Era veteran with PTSD. I was a medic in the Army with the 67th CSH in Germany post operations Desert Storm and until 1994. I was in the Army about ten years active and Army NG/Res about five years(this includes two years Navy Reserve also). I have worked for the Federal Govt. for about five years employed with the VA in the towns of Marlin and Temple Texas after discharge from the military. All total I have about twenty years Federal service.

I have some health issues and have very bad days at times. Some days I don't even get out of bed because I'm either wracked with pain or just feeling sick in general. I wont go into all that here.

I look forward to interacting with you all when I am on, and am eager to participate in conversations and discussions. I will ask advice at times also for this project of mine.

Thank you all.

Today...is a very emotional day for me.

Hello I have been on this site for a few months. When i got my 200x I havnt found out how to start a new thread can any one help me out I have a few questions. thanks and the name is Aaron

You can use the quick reply at the bottom. I always use reply with quote too, so people know to which comment you are replying. And if you need to add more to the reply, use the edit post button to save space so theres not a bunch of little oneliners that we have to scroll through.

Or actually, it just says reply with quote. Not quick reply, under each post. Oh, to start a new thread. At the top of the page before you go into a thread, you know the page that shows all the threads before you click on one. There is a post new thread tab at the top. ie; if you start from the forum page where it shows all the categories, and say click on Member Commencement. Once you click on it then you see at the top inside that page a post new thread tab at the top. I hope I'm making this clear enough for you.

Also try the FAQ link first maybe. Its at the top of the forum page in green letters. If no luck still the list of the moderators is in the rules section of the new members page. You have to read through the rules and scroll down a ways but theres a link to moderators there. Good luck.

Hello, just joined this site today but i have lurked aroud here for a while. My name is Wes and I grew up riding trikes but had not owned one for a long time until I bought my daughter an atc 70 this spring. I forgot how fun these machines are and might have to get one for myself next summer. Here is a pic of her 70 fresh from the barn I dug it out of. http://i744.photobucket.com/albums/xx81/bansheekx/100_2396.jpg After cleaning the carb a few times we got it running like a top and she has litteraly destroyed our yard riding it this summer!

New to the site. Was at trikefest with the fullbore crew last year. Might remember me, i was the fool drinkin smirnoff gallons of keg beer during and after the award ceremonies. The only one to wear a bright orange Fullbore shirt all week(back left with both arms up in the group photo, rockin the orange). Anyway just wanted to say hi to the people who may or may not remember me. See Y'all in '11.

Hey 3WW. I have just found the site. I have bought an 86? Big Red for about $300. Except for a few cosmetic odds and ends, the bike seems to be in good running shape. I would, however, like to pick the brains of some more knowledgable folks when I do start a quasi-restoration.

HEY, Love the site. I'm a old schooler ATVer.... I love them all. I've got a couple of trikes that I play with and I wanted to see who else was still out there. I'm a old racer that can't give it up. I'm from NE Ohio and I ride in Ohio, PA, and Michigan, I live about 15mins from Ashtabula and cut my teeth at Pinelake and CRA tracks in Ohio. I mostly trail ride nowadays , but I'm still a speedfreak. Glad to be here, any question feel free to ask. Been there, done that isnt outside the relm. If your not fixn it,your not riden it.

Hello everyone.
I am new to this forum.
This forum was recommended to me by a friend of mine.

I own (2) 3-wheelers.
A 1983 Suzuki ALT 185 that I bought a few years ago for $325.
That is a fun machine, but I am very limited to what I can do with it because it has ZERO SHOCKS.

And then last week I picked up another one.
This time I got a 1985 Honda 200X that I paid a mere $200 for.
Guy wanted $450 (which was still cheap), but I was able to talk him down to $200.
When I went to check it out I couldn't get it started.
Kicked it and kicked it and kicked it,...but nothing.
Plus it was sitting on 2 flat tires.
So anyways, he sold it to me for $200.

I took it home and looked at it in the light, and noticed that the kill switch was off.
Turned it on and I was able to get it fired up!
Rode it for about 4 hours so far.
It still has a hard time starting, but runs good once it is running.

This machine is 1000X times better than the Suzuki without shocks.
In fact, if I never ride the Suzuki again,...it won't bother me a bit.

My name is Jeff, from Peck Ks via Rockport In and headed to Fordsville Ky, where I have 152 acres of woods, hills and creeks to tear up. When I joined all we had was my sons 84 225dx that he bought awhile back but doesn't run yet. But yesterday I picked up a running 85 350x and an 85 250es big red for $1200. In my 43 years I've had 2 250r's, 2 350x's and 1 bad Big Wheel (until the seat and front wheel cracked from to much air time).
I've browsed this site from time to time just to reminesse but because of the acreage, I thought it was time to buy some toys and finally join to help do mods and keep them in order.

Hi all, Im new to this site and just now getting back into 3 wheelers. I picked up two this last week, I got a 1983 kawasaki klt200 ( for free and now i know why it was free  ) and a 1984 kawasaki kxt 250-A1 tecate. That I cant seem to figure out how to tighten the chain. oh and I gave $400.00 for it so i hope i didnt pay to much. It runs good and I got it from a guy who used to race them. He spent alot of time and money trying to keep it looking as good as he could and running smoothly like a banshy.:w00t:

1984 kawasaki kxt 250-A1 tecate. That I cant seem to figure out how to tighten the chain.

Rob, The rear axle carrier has 4 large bolts that attach the carrier to the swingarm. Loosen those 4 large bolts (2 on each side). You should have an adjuster attached to the bottom left large bolt, with all 4 loosened, loosen the locknut and tighten the nut on the adjuster which will pull the carrier back swinging on the left and right hand upper large bolts tightening the chain. Tighten the locknut on the adjuster and tighten the 4 large bolts on the carrier. On the swingarm you will see there is room for the carrier to swing, if your chain is wore out or too long you may not have any more room to tighten the chain. You may have to remove a link from the chain.

I have just acquired a YTM 200, I think and know very little about it or engines in general. I know the # on the frame is 21V-015899 but haven't been able to locate the year yet. Is there another # somewhere I'm missing? Also, the engine starts fine, but when I try to throttle it doesn't have any power. I took the carb out and cleaned it (didn't soak it with carb cleaner) with carb cleaner and made sure all wasn't clogged. Put it back on, but same problem. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks group.

I have a problem with my 1985 Honda Big Red 250es, rebuilt the carb a few weeks ago, during the initial start after the rebuild, the enging back fired. after that the engine was blowing oil out the rubber vent tubes, is that a blown head gasket or what

I am a new member just trying to get the site figured out. I was just wondering what this 350X was worth that I just picked up? It is a 86 with about 8 tanks of fuel run through it from the day it was new, it still has the like new Honda OEM chain on it. I bought it to ride, but depending on how much it is worth I may have to sell it to a collector. I would appreciate any input. Thanks..

Hello, my name is Eric. I'm from Baltimore, MD and definitely looking forward to attending Trikefest 2012 for the first time this year! I grew up riding with my cousins on a borrowed ATC 70 and later my Uncle's Big Red. I moved out to the country a little while back, met some local quad and dirtbike riders, and decided that 3 wheels were way cooler than what my friends had...so I started accumulating trikes from craigslist (and never payed more than $300 for any of them) and it's become an obsession. Anyways, I've gotten pretty good on the trails (smoking quads is fun lol) and plan on doing lots of riding this year. That being said, if anyone in the MD/PA/VA area wants to ride, please LMK...It would be great to ride with other trike guys.

Hello all,
My name is Carl and I'm a new member here, just picked up my Honda 250R Sunday and having a blast with it. Doing a basic tune-up at the moment before getting to aggresive. Back in the day basically grown up on these things and always had a blast riding. Mostly had the 110's and big red but was a blast none the less. Once a little older came across a 1985.5 Yamaha Tri-Z 250 and still kicking myself for selling it. That was a bad dude, so in doing some research I thought these things were no longer around, much to my surprise. So in searching and looking at trikes this brought all the old memories back of riding and something snapped and I just had to have one. So finally found one and went bought it the other day and glad I did. Now I'm wanting to buy a Tri-Z that I found, and trying to scrape up the money for that one. Thanks for letting me join and I will be asking some questions and buying parts to dress up that 250 a little more, although it don't need much. I have looked on here before I bought the bike in the picture (if it came out) and you guys gave me a lot of good info. on making my decision to buy the Honda. Thanks

I wanted to ask, where could I get a new bracket for the rear shock canister located right behind the carb. I noticed mine was broke yesterday and would like to fix it. I have thought about just taking it off and possibly welding the ears back on and repainting. Any suggestions.

That's ok. Thanks for the input I appreacte it, I work at a metal fabrication shop shouldn't be to hard of a fix, I was just wondering if new ones would possibly be available just incase I mess this one up. Just will have to be careful in repairing it. New here, so far I have been just looking around seems to be a pretty nice and infomative site.

Should the knob to adjust the shock from hard to soft settings be really hard to turn? I haven't been able to adjust mine, figured I would ask before getting pliers after it. If its really hard to turn do you think its not working properly?

Hey there fellow wheelers, I am new to this site, but not new to owning a trike. I used to have an 85 atc110, sadly enough it was stolen by some local hoopeejoobs, never to be seen again. Now 10 years later I have acquired an atc200s and buckets of parts. Im not really sure what year it is or how to find out though. In all reality Im going to need all the help I can get here with this thing. Im not a bike mechanic, im a hotrod/truck mechanic, and fabricator /welder. The mowwwwrons who had this bike first decided to cut the rear fenders to about the third of the width they were, ripped off the tool box lid, duct tape and spraypaint the tank, rip off the light, and put bicycle handlebars on it, sooo sad. For this trike it must be like saving it from trike auschwitz. I have spent the past month going through buckets of parts I have gotten from various donors and people on craigslist, and have managed to find a good light and bracket, The right handlebars throttle unit and brake levers and dash cover., luckily enough all the brake components do work. All I had to do was replace the levers on the drums themselves. I have stripped and cleaned the tank, got a new carb, fuel hose, I pulled the pre filter out of the tank and added an inline filter.

What I need help with is the motor, I do not know jack about these cycle motors, I understand the concept between 2 cycle and 4 but I have honestly never taken one apart,, and where the heck would I go about finding out what year this thing is? HEEEEEEEEEELP

Hello to all, especially the guys who were there and done that back in the 80's on the tracks!! I was fortunate to raced back then and even still own several ATC Honda's, and in stock and modified form. I was lucky to have raced up and down the eastcoast.

Back then, I met Marty Hart, Steve Wright, Jimmy White, pitted with Rodney Gentry as a privateer, and even had my picture taken with my favorite Honda rider and wiseguy, Curtis Sparks. I still own two ATC 70s and even my old race bike, a 1984 Honda CR60 which my dad and I converted into three wheeler for the modified 60cc class (Damn thing was faster than my Dad's 86 200X, no kidding)

Great site, and I enjoy reading the post from the racers such as Mike Coe, and others who raced back in the day. THAT was an awesome time to be a young kid!!

Hey all, new to the site but have been riding trikes most of my life. I currently own a '84 Honda 70cc with an '85 motor in it, and I have a 110. I used to have 200m, a 175 tri-moto, and a Suzuki 50cc. When I bought the 110, it came with 2 bikes one the frame was scraped and the engine is seized, the other is running but pissing a lot of oil. I pulled out the seized engine and will be rebuilding it once I get my Clymer shop manual. My plan is to replace my other 110 motor with this one then fix the other on and drop it in a little 90cc Chinese 4wheeler, it's engine is a piece of junk. I can take out my son who weighs 70lbs in 3rd gear with the 70cc and I weigh almost 200lbs. If anybody has any pointers I am all ears. Thanx

Hey all,

I am an old kid racer from the 80's who recalls the magazines, races, various characters, and fun spectacles that was 80's 3-wheeling; incredible times they were. I still have several ATC 70's, acess to an '86 200X, and my ORIGINAL modified Honda CR60 converstion. (AS fast and a stock 200X) I was very fortunate to have had my Dad build me two fully suspended minis back in the day, meet Sparks, Hart, Wright, Meadows, Dunlap, White, Denton, Baker, pit with Gentry, and assortment of pro races on the eastern and midstates.

Just got an old ATC 70 running and blasting around giving neighbors quite a show : )

Thanks for a great site.

Hi everyone, Chuck from Binghamton, NY. Started riding and collecting Honda ATC's about 5 years ago and got instantly addicted. I own 2 very nice Honda 200ES 1984 Big Red's, and a 1984 200M not perfect but I ride it a ton, and it's the first one I owned so I kept it. Glad to be a member and to see I am not the only one who really enjoys these Honda ATC's.

Hi guys (and girls?),

Just to introduce myself, I'm Dave and I guess I may be a bit of a rarity as I'm from the UK! Please don't hold it against me.

I have just got myself a 1984 Kawasaki KLT250 Prairie found in my local bike breakers. As soon as I saw it I knew I must have it even before I knew what it was! The guy said he had a spare frame that I could have but when I went to pick it up I found it was a KLT200! In a poor way but I like a challenge! The 250 is my priority (my 11 year old son has claimed the 200), it seems all there and I have already started stripping her for the restoration.

I have joined your forum as I haven't found anything relevant in the UK and I'm hoping you guys will be able to give me some info on what I've got and what I'm letting myself in for! And if you know of any owners in the UK that would be good too!!

That's me, no Mullet or Mohark - so 1 out of 3 will have to do!

Cheers Dave

Hello everyone, my name's Fred. I'm a retired Sergeant First Class from the US Army. I've been riding motorcycles, since I was 5 years old. I bought a 1982 Honda ATC 185S as a mid-life crisis, partly to restore something that was in sorry, broken condition like me, and partly to relive my youth. My son will probably end up getting the trike, since he's 13 and loves to ride. As of now, I've taken it completely apart, sanded and repainted the frame and the rear plastic (still missing the front fender); I've taken the engine completely apart, degreased it and will order new bearings, seals and gaskets for it and put it back together. The rear sprocket and chain need to be replaced too, as do the tires.....it was a basket case, but I enjoy fixing things that others wouldn't give a second glance. I look forward to asking many questions that the manual can't answer.

Hi People,

I'm new 3 wheelers (and posting to threads) so this could be messed up!? Live in Michigan and actually like the cold and snow which puts me in a minority I think. Just got my '84 Honda 200s at the very end of winter and have only ridden three times so far. Purchased it for something to ride mainly in winter while ice fishing, and exploring some of the local lakes and trails. Now I should have plenty of time to clean her up, and ride some dry land trails. First searched ebay and craigslist, but then actually got a tip from a customer who "had a friend" that had a 3 wheeler who might want to sell. I think I got lucky with this one. Anyway, I somehow stumbled into this site, and signed up to learn more about the machines from people with experience - Thanks!

Hey ice man,
yes i had an 85 tri z when i was 16 yellow, its a funny thing harking back to the feelings you had when you were younger i think the term freedom applies.

I have been restoring Yamaha fs1e mopeds for the last few years, this is what i had when i could legally ride on the road in uk at 16,they have been going crazy for the last few years, lots of people buying them for that very reason, mid life crisis, got bored now, english roads at night with a 6 volt lighting system at 45-50mph not really good for the health so im off road again, love the ATC they seem to go for good money, pretty much bullet proof engine wise enjoy

I have always ridden them on trails but have been mainly racing them for many years. In the last couple of years I have been racing on Coke Syrup on Concrete here in Des Moines, Iowa. As I am getting a little older  I have been wanting to do some of the events that others have been doing with their 3 wheelers. I have always gone somewhere and come home the same day until the oldman 3 wheeler ride I was invited to in Topeka Ks , by my friends Rad Randy, Fast eddy and Mike Cook . What a Blast! I had no idea what I have been missing out on. So this year I decided to participate in some of the other events that are enjoyed by People Here at 3ww and others at 3wo. I bought my wife a 1985 250 Sx about a month ago and with a little guidance from FlyingW (Thanks Jim) I installed a 350X front on it. I also aquired a small enclosed trailer to haul the 3 Wheelers in and a couple weeks ago the wife and I attended The Midwest Rampage in Waynoka, Oklahoma at the Little Sahara sand dunes. What a HOOT. We will be going back! Met Kieth Salyer from this Website Good people he is! Met a lot of really good people at that event. I thought it appropriate to Join this Website as we are planning upcoming event that are sponsored here. TRIKE FEST is in our sites and we are just starting to make plans for that run. Any suggestions will be helpful as the suggestions for Rampage were a plus ! We are looking at Ashtubula in July and 2 events in September and hope to meet all of you fine people at these events. Thanks for allowing me to be a part of 3 Wheeler World!:)

Hey all, first time posting. I've been reading the forums (as much as I could view anyways) for a while now but just signed up recently. Hoping to get on more often now and get some updates and tips on builds. Attached pic is of my 1984 250R. Just did a custom paint job on the gas tank, similar to the old Elsinore paint, and had it out over memorial day. In the process of completing my 1985 250R for the 4th of July holiday. hoping to have both of them up north (NW Wisconsin) for the holiday weekend.

Hi Folks
I have a 1976 Honda ATC 90, I have owned it for about 1yr, always wanted one as a kid, but the folks said NO:crazy: Anyway i'm now a 40yo kid and have rebelled:cool: the forum looks great and seems to have a huge knowledge base with friendly folk that love what they do.
I am after some advice on an issue i currently have with the bike, but I will address that in the relevant section.
Cheers.
Here are a couple of pics with my 7yo taking it for a spin.

So my name is Aaron and I live in Wasilla Alaska. 32 years ago my dad bought me a trimoto 125 which was at that age of 8an amazing thing that gave you an enormous sense of freedom and lots of stupid, stupid-thrills. Time moves on and in the last few years ive picked up a 250r, a 200x, and a Honda fatcat which is an awesome tool to see the awesome landscape that I live in. Also have a couple late model four wheeled thingies. Im big on wheeling through the country, playing dog-Frisbee, and doing marathon length iceskating trips on the numerous frozen rivers near here. Last year I put 1008 miles on my skates, and about that much on the fatcat and various other wheeling devices. If youre inclined you can see a lot of wheeling and skating on my youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/user/Theicedevice In the near future im going to mod my fatcat to have 30x10 ag tires and studs, and presently rehabilitating my very beaten 200x.

Hi everyone, my name is Brandt, I'm an aussie bloke who just purchased my first trike yesterday. I got a 1983 KLT200B, it runs and is mechanically pretty good, but overall care for the appearance has been neglected for some time. I intend to rebuild the bike but I am not sure how original I will be able to keep it's appearance, I have searched the internet and found nothing in the way of spare fenders for it. I am glad to see there are engine parts available for this trike though.
As this is my first trike I expect I will learn a lot from this site and its members, and I hope eventually I can be one of the blokes who gives advice rather than receiving it!

Hello everyone,
Long time member, first to poster. I joined this site back in 07 and I have enjoyed reading about everyone's trike. I currently have an 85 Tri-Z, all stock minus a silencer and I have plans to completely restore it using some of the ideas I read about here. I also just bought a yt60 Tri-Zinger that I am going to restore for my daughter. I have owned several different trikes over the years and I will never get rid of my Tri-Z. Thanks to everyone for all of the valuable info that has been added to this site over the years!

Hey Yall just bought my first trike. 84 Honda ATC 200M. I was to excited until I notice the idle wasn't right and it makes a popping sound while idling. I am picking up my carb kit tonight but I noticed the spark plug has oil on it. Any idea why? Bad rings or valves? This will be my first ever rebuild. I appreciate any input or advice. Thanks

Hello all,

I recently bought a new to me '85 ATC 200S and thought this would be a great place to learn. I origionally created a new "hello" thread, but it now has noe text in it. I'm not sure if I did something wrong while editing it (probably) or if it was deleted due to me supposed to having said hello under this thread. Either way, I look forward to learning from and contributing to the site.

Another new guy here. Started on three wheels @ age 3 on a 74 atc90. Haven't had one again for 40 years, sold my 4wheelers and wanted something to putt around on so started looking for three wheelers. So far I've bought a 1980 110 and a 81 200. Both run, in decent shape. Looking foward to fixing the 110 up to look like the 74 my dad bought. Let the wife ride that one, I'm 6'4 260, little small for me but it still moves me around good even in high. So far have gotten lots of info off of here and enjoy the site.

Hey 3WW! Just joined this past week. I'm just starting a ground up resto-mod of an 85 250R. I'm doing a 06 450R swingarm conversion and would like if someone can point in the right direction of where to look on the site for some info. I have the swingarm but would like to know whats the best shock and linkage setup? Also plan to put inverted forks up front. Any info would be awesome! Look forward to hearing everyone!....Oh! By the way just picked up a 85 ATC 70.

Hi Everyone,

I joined because I have a Big Red 250ES that is (usually) in very good (but currently not starting) shape and I wish to keep it that way for along time because it is really a fun machine, much more so than my JD Gator 4x6. It's a great way to get from point A to point B while going to my blinds or stands, or cruising the woods for downed trees for firewood (even better without a coupon book). I've done alot of motorcycle and vehicle maintenance etc. to my own stuff and hope to get ahead of the curve on the Big Red. I recently serviced the front tire and brake, rear brake, and replaced the rr brake cable- came out nicely. Finally- I'll be searching the threads shortly to find out why the dang thing decided not to start this year! Thanks for reading!

Hello I'm new here I've been a rider since 3 but I'm looking to go bigger than a 90cc now (obviously to big) and actually I want some advice. I found a 1987 honda 250sx but it had shifting problems the last time he rode it so he put it strait in his garage and I'm wondering wether I should be worried about it or what possible problems could there be? And how much I should pay

Hey all. Located in Colorado. Been a member for a while, just typically lurk for info and such. I've owned several ATCs and have filled and emptied a garage full of bikes, ATCs a couple times. Just can't seem to stay away from them for too long. I prefer Hondas, but have owned the big 3 in various forms. One thing I don't have a shortage of would be projects, but the itch is hitting me again and I'm back on the search for some more ATCs to tear into. Planning on buying another Big Red in the next few weeks to put to work on a new place with some property. Have my eye on a couple 200Xs, but also hoping to have a 350X project (or runner) before the end of the year.

Greetings from Australia. My name is Dave and I have just joined this forum. As it seems to be protocol I thought I should say hi here. I got my First Trike a 1973 K0 ATC 70 back in 1976 when I was only 4 years old. To this day I still own this little fella and since he is well and truly a part of who I am, I am starting a big resto to correct all the abuse it got over the years.
I also got a 185s as a new trike back in 1983 and after selling it when I was 18, I just brought it back off the gent I sold it to. Amazingly it is still in fantastic condition. I also have 2 other 185s trikes which are also resto jobs. Looks forward to looking though the forum

Hello everyone! I just joined up... What a great place to be!! Now a little bit about me....

Since I was a kid I have owned and ridden ATC's. Started out on an 83 KX60 but made the switch in 85 we (me and my 2 brothers) had a new 85-200x and a new leftover 85-200s. At one point in the early 90's I had an 81-250r for a while then bought a 86-250r with engine in pieces but never did get it up and running. Also bought a beat up 86 200x. After High school not much happened besides getting rid of most of them (I know what a dumb ass) . If I only knew then what i know now, right? Anyway now I'm married 13 years with 3 kids and have slowly gotten back into my passion for the ATC. Two years ago I picked up an 85 ATC70 for the kids to mess around on. More recently I picked up another sweet OEM 86 200x and a 85-250es. This was my first time riding a big red and at the point i am in my life I really love the way it rides plus in all the years I always wanted electric start and or reverse an never had either until now. Im a happy guy!

So here is what I still have:

85 ATC 70 - (owned 2 years) OEM in decent shape i think it needs new piston and rings. I adjusted valves, timing, put new condenser, carb rebuild etc. but it don't run right. I can drive it slow and it idles great but when you get on it it peckers out. Tested compression and its just under spec. so I plan to change piston n rings and see what happens.

86 ATC 200x - (owned 24 years) Still runs but compression also low and needs to be rebuilt. Back in the day I tore it down and painted the frame and tank electric blue and changed the sprockets, and swing arm bearings. It definitely rough though.

86 ATC 200x - (owned less than 1 year) - Excellent shape OEM except for the new tires.

85 ATC 250es - (owned less than a year) - In rough condition but everything is there. Has crack fender one side and cracked trunk bottom. Everything seems to function OK. I plan to take apart the drive train to check condition and replace bearings & seals for starters. Also it has original tires but need to be replaced at some point since you can see the inner tubes through the tire cracks.

Other vehicles
1990 CR250r (owned 23 years) Still going strong! Potentially retro fit engine into ATC frame. Its basically a liquid R engine.
1987 Harley 1340cc FLHS electroglide classic (owned 5 years)
