Derrick Adams

You can run as many days as you like, however the three wheelers generally only run on saturdays. I have ran my three wheeler on friday as well, just jumped in a quad class. Most likely you would be put in the Blaster class, womans quad, or senior quad. Any of these classes will give you more than a workout. Also, I should mention that if you run any of these other classes that you will be required to purchase a CRA membership card.

Shoot me an email and Ill link you up with some better details and information. You can pre-register and save $10 per class. You print out the form, and then write in the class, BUT it is best to wait until I have a good handle on who is coming, and until I can annouce whether there will be multiple classes and what those classes will be. Its looking like we may enough racers for a separate "B" class. Ill annouce at least 7 days before reg is due.

As a general note and reminder to all:
This is a professionally operated race event by Patriot Promotions, and as always is a family event in a family atmosphere, and OTC is repeatedly invited because of our respect for this atmosphere, responsible behavior, and compliance with all event rules. For more complete details, or questions aout OTC participation in any events, please email me.

Looks like not enough for a "B" class, so it will probably be just a random split down the middle for two gates. Again I will try to get them to just run two groups in the main and skip the conci.

Where are you guys downloading the form from? Use www.racecra.org . Its a .pdf file. Open it, and then save it on your sesktop, and print t out, and mail it. If you cannot download it, send me an email, and Ill email it back to you as a file attachment. The form does not have a 3 wheeler class listed, so you need to write it in- "3 Wheeler". Leave the CRA number blank, unless you happen to have one. YOU CANNOT REGISTER ONLINE. That doesnt work for unlisted classes. You need to send them out soon. They must be received by next Wednesday.

Dixieplowboy, we'd love to have you. I think you'd add to the positive representation we have to the non-triking fans and public. You are right about the spectators. They are our greatest supporters, and encouragers, and its for them that we perform.

Im only seeing like 5 "B" class racers, and I dont see any other class definitions (2 stroke/4stroke etc.) that would get an even split. My thoughts are 3 wheeler group 1, and 3 wheeler group 2, randomly split. Each group will be a separate class. Each group runs one heat, and then the main, just like every other class that does not need to be reduced.

The other option is to decide now who from A class will drop back into B class, but if we do this, everyone who has committed themselves needs to show up.

I guess I mis-read or just plain did not comprehend Tim. I like the idea of 2 classes randomly split - heat and main for both. I just hate to see people travel from so far away and then end up being eliminated from the finals. This is why I did not want to see any consi races this year for our classes.

You will need a CRA card which you can get there for $20. They have no 2 stroke or Blaster class now. I usually run Senior which is over age 30. You could run Woodsman, Open, or Extra Quad. Woodsman is beginner quad class. You could actually be competitive with some of those riders, but the wrecks are quick frequent and the racing is sloppy. In the other two classes, you probably wont do well, but less chance of getting crashed into. Of those two, Id take Extra Quad just because is not a points class, and they are less serious.

This will work provided we have two classes so you wont have to run at the same time, keeping in mind we are often run consecutively. Are you certain you are coming, and both racing?

Okay, I had talked with Josh earlier and told him there would be no B class and that it would be a random split. He is running Flat Track races this weekend so Ill have to wait til Monday. Its really helpful if people let me know earlier as it impacts pre-registartions already mailed in. The idea of pre-registration is to have you signed up for your appropriate class in advance. I will contact him again Monday, and see if I can re-arrange classes, but I absolutley need to know that those who will run B class will for sure be there before I request a class. Please do not sign up if you "might come" or "want to come" but only if it is certain you WILL come. Inflated numbers do not help us, but harm us. IT is better you arrive unexpected and than not arrive after we've made arrangments. So EVERYONE PLEASE, PLEASE correct this if it needs correcting. We CANNOT create new classes on the fly after we arrive. Consider me the low end marker for "A" class. If you dont typically beat me, run "B" class until you win it or consistantly come close. For those who havent mailed them yet, put down 3 Wheeler A or B. For those who alreday sent them, make sure you are in the correct class at check in.

I will offer to run a quad class on my trike just so we dont have to run a conci. Unless im behind the times of this thread. I just hate seeing people drive all that way to get turned around if they dont make it.

How is that for a option tim? if some of us want to run a quad class to make a single A and a B class?

Just a option Tim, im fine with that. I know a few of us would!

Thanks Josh, but just hold tight until I talk with Josh McFadden. My plan is to run TWO A classes in addition to the B class. The A class riders would be randomly split by the promoter. 6-8 riders each in 3 Wheeler A group 1, and 3 Wheeler A group 2. Each group would be treated as a seperate class and have its own winners. Peolpe in one group would not race against people in teh other group. Which group you end up in would be based purely on dumb luck. You may not square off against your person of choice out there, but everybody would race and nobody would have to be elimiated in a conci. The same way they handled the split B class at last Smith Rd. This is what Im shooting for, but Im running out of ways to explain it.

this may be to much burden on them to organize but what about a conci race but let all the ones that did not make it run there own main race. i'm just throwing out an idea. i don't mind either way you go. just glad to see nobody will have to go home after going all that way.

This is a perfect solution! Looking at the present sign-up list, that would be 6 riders on each A class gate.
Hopefully we don't get a blizzard the day before like last year. I remember pulling into the fairgrounds thinking, "there is no way they are going to have this today."

What time is everybody showing at the track on Saturday AM?

If it was our event, and we only had 3 wheelers to contend with, thats what I would do, but I want to fit into their program as smoothly as possible, and asking them to add extra heats when they are already dealing with 25 or 30 classes with elimination heats is pushing it.

They have agreed to split us into as many groups as necessary in order that ALL WILL RUN a Main Event (3 wheeler classes only). Specify 3 wheeler A or B at sign in. We still have practrice laps, and then our first heat in the morning. The heat determines choice of starting line position in the Main Event.

Thanks Josh and others for thinking about the whole group.

The forecast isnt great, but it also doesnt sound like anything the road crews cant up with. You guys coming in from the northeast of Akron will have it hardest, but I think from I-80 south should be decent. A couple inches per day is forecasted. Im not far, so I can understand if some of you guys from Jersey and NY are a little uncertain. Any of you guys see the weather as changing your plans to attend, just let me know so we can plan accordingly.

This from Pitracer.com yesterday:

JUST BACK FROM THE TRACK, HAVING BEEN TO EVERY INDOOR AT SUMMIT, THIS TRACK IS THE BEST, NOT LIKE ANY OTHER LAY OUT THEY HAVE EVER HAD. LOTS OF RIDERS AT PRACTICE. LOOK FOR A BIG TURN OUT THIS INDOOR. STARTS TOMORROW, SEE YOU THERE.

A Heartfelt message for Eric Jensen.

I would like to be the one of the first to extend a heartfelt congratulations to ERIC JENSEN #77 on HIS 1st overall win riding with the OTC. Mr. Jensen is an incredibly skilled rider who carved up the track like a professional! Eric it's very exciting and refreshing to meet someone so down to earth and skilled throwing around a three wheeler. It's incredibly obvious that you fit right in with the OTC.

It's also incredibly obvious that you have raised the bar for our A class! I have no doubt that no matter what machine you are riding YOU are a force to be reckoned with on the track. I dare say I'd hate to race with you riding a more familiar bike as I would expect that a 350x or 250r would have been second nature for you to ride!

Once again I just have to say congratulations, you are one heck of a rider and you completely earned your 1st overall! I also have to stress that it was a pleasure riding and talking with you out on the track. I look forward to riding with you again soon!

Yah guys, it was a BLAST!!!!
I felt real rusty in practice, going over berms, overshooting doubles, The first moto felt a lil better, me and Derrick Adams had a hell of a time battling it out for 2nd place. I was all over him like white on rice! AWESOME racing D!
I took 3rd in the first moto, then was in 3rd side by side with scott on his 350x jumping off a double to take 2nd.

Then my friggin master linik snapped in half!!! WTF? haha

So I ended up DNF'ing the main moto :( I was feeling good too, Takes a lil longer to get back ont he saddle, afterall it has been since Halloween since I raced last. But I tell ya, that new motor Is the cats meow. Main moto I felt unstoppable, I got a nice side by side holeshot with Eric. It pulls like a 4 poke now to lug it on the inside line and seat bounce into a double. Jason you da man!!!!

Props to ya Eric, well done!

Yo Dawwwwgggy, you had a bad day man! Better luck down south!

My congratulations to everyone who came out, and put on one fantastic show for the crowd. With extremely crowded gates (especially in "A" class) everybody from the front of A class to the back battling pair in B class was able to keep it very clean, and all looked like top notch professionals out there, proving once again that safety comes from the riders and not the machines. Last night was a record turnout for this event (not just trikes) and we put on our best show yet for the biggest crowd yet. (Some may have noticed they ran out of awards) I was sorry to see Josh lose a chain, and wondered if I ground it off in that first corner. :) I always hate to see a rider go out for mechaincal issues. Once again, congratulations to all, and not to take anything away from the winners, who deserve their recognition, but to recognize and congratulate the B class as well for representing OTC professionally, as the most driving force for bringing new racers into the fold. You guys really looked great, well in control, even the pair in the back doing corners side by side without getting tangled. I was really impressed. The future of OTC as a reputed safe and responsible group within the circuit of professionally operated race promotions looks very bright.

Just wanted to publicly thank Jason Hall for lending me the Halls Performance 250R for this race. Although not quite dialed in for me and MX it sure beat standing in the crowd watching. Congratulations Eric on your win. I look forward to racing with you again someday.

Also, great job everyone on racing safely with the largest group of three wheelers we've ever had on one of the tighest tracks yet. 11 riders in the Main A class and no carnage. I have to say I was super excited when they put us all together because I knew everyone was going to be racing against someone! Was it just me or did anyone else notice that the organizers seemed to really cater this track to being three wheeler friendly this time around?

Josh has nothing on me to being rusty. Sorry for stealing your trophy mug ATC Tim.

I hadto ride for 2 hrs for the piston but it was well worth it. We didnt get done til 3am sat morning. I kid Eric only cuz I like him and it was Hee-Haw, he's got a thing for LuLu.....That was some of the BEST RACING in YEARS!!!!! True gentalmans race and couldn't of happened with a better bunch of guys. Thanks to all and those that helped out Nick/Sidewayz....THAT WAS COOL and goes to show the true spirit of three wheelers and the group of guys who race'em.....So as most who where there saw me running around snapping pics and though both of my cameras were beat to heck I managed to get some good ones . No action shots, I was racing, but I did get some on the line and did get the A main. So here's a little slideshow for ya all.........

Awesome media guys, hey leviblue, can you post up a link to all your videos? the embedding them in here is not working for me for some reason!

Id also like to commend Bob and Peepers. I saw some major improvment in these guys. Bob you had the corners DOWN man! I dont know what hopped up into your ass but it seems to be working for ya! :)

Dunno, maybe it was just the fact its a smooth track with no ruts like Smith Rd.:D Allowing me to hang it out a little without fear of catching a rut and having a yardsale:naughty:
I really liked the track and my bike was handling really good, and I felt pretty good. Thanks for noticing, shame about that chain man, you were looking pretty good too.

Anyway I been working on the video my wife took and got a little uploaded. Here is the practice session.

Is there anywhere to go to see the Summit indoor schedule for this season/year?

Being as far away as I am and wanting to visit ya'll at least a time or two, it'll take a good bit of forward planning. Who knows, maybe there's someone else in the southern states seeing what I'm seeing and wanting to join ya'll too that might want to plan ahead with me for a little trip/carpool.

Trikes are done for the year but the outdoor season is comming up.....Tim Sr is the man to ask about upcomming events in Ohio......I think the 70's are still flattracking though and the quads are still running....I could be wrong though

Dixieplowboy - Summit Indoor is only twice per year - generally beginiing to mid-January and end of February.

check directions for either Malvern (Waynesburg, OH)
Lightning Raceway - near Tippicanoe, OH
or most likely the largest trike race turnout - Smith RoadRaceway in Medina Ohio.

An OTC race schedule should be out soon for you to plan to attend one of these awesome events with us!

OTC - come join us!

Yeah, that's the way the indoor arena cross series are around here...just during the winter. I definitely want to hit the indoor thing when time comes, but don't want to wait that long. I'll look into the other venues, but from what I've seen in the vids, the Smith Road track looks pretty narrow.....like low to no passing opportunities. Of course, that was from a helmet cam view, so that could narrow the field of view and be deceptive.

Awesome racing to all of you.

I am just gonna throw this up in the air.

With the recent additions of TPC, and the Jersey guys, Louis being from Maryland, and Fabiodriven wanting to race in Mass, this may be a oppurtunistic time for all of you north eastern located guys to start petitioning to race at tracks more local to you folks.
The amount of time you guys drive to get to Ohio, thru blizzards no less, is insane, and definately reinforces your desires to participate. Not to mention the financial burdens of fuel costs, motel fees and truck rentals, that are sometimes required to make these 8 hour plus journeys..You guys are definately hardcore, and deserve to have your own events that are more feasible for you to attend.
Maybe if you you guys continue to run around here for the rest of 2010, compile some pics and vids and present them to your more local tracks that there is a following, something would start to happen.
It would be great to see a few regional Trike racing crews. And I believe, you guys up in the north east at this point have the best turnout, and chances of making this happen.I also believe that trikers more local to you guys would make the trek out, if they knew they were only 2-3 hours from an event.
It seems like once you get 4-6 guys out on a regular basis, the local trikers want to get out there with you, and before you know it, there could be 2 gates in areas where others could participate.
Just a thought.

I've been trying and it looks like it might happen here in Jersey but it's a hard sell. Quads don't want us to run with them and track insurance is iffy. But a few are interested and I'll be talking with one next week. With the racing that went on at Summit it should be an easier sell. WE ALL RACED A CLASSIC STRAIGHT-UP RACE THAT THE PEOPLE LOVED
I'd make the drive even if it took 24hrs it's worth it

Attention attendees and racers - I need to know who rode Scott's fast little ATC70 in the heat. I know Flyin' Brian rode it in the final (or at least I think he did). I also need to know who it was riding the Auto-X and what his number was. I am compiling another "Race Wrap Up" for the articles section and need this info.

Thanks!

Looking forward to that, and I'm sorry for the no show as well. The enclosed box trailer(owned by a friend) became unavailable the night before the race. I'm a freeze baby anymore and didn't want to sit in my truck all day with road chem/salt all over the X to boot. When the trailer became a no show my wife hooked me into watching the twins...Lockdown. I can't wait for the weather to break and get to the outdoors. Dixie, Smith has pleanty of room to move and pass...but Malvern is the much nicer IMO. You really have to experance racing under the lights...it's like the frist championship game you played in little league football. The lights somehow makes it way cooler than during the day. Then again OTC Jamboree at Lighting is killer because it's like having a GIANT playground all to yourself(trails and MX track) minus the 20 other guy and gals you're camping out with...plus it's an entire weekend event(best bang for buck) of enjoying each others company. I am itch'n to get riding and look forward to seeing you all at the next event...baring 12" of snow and subtropic temps. Great footage/snap shots Levi, FastZ, and the rest....It makes missing the race a little less disapointing...but MAN it makes my thumb miss the wide open position.

Hey guys. Just got around to joining 3WW. Im fastfreddy44's son. I raced the #44 250r in the B class. I had an awesome time besides the couple of bails!! It was my first 3 wheeler race ever. I will definitely be at future races. Thanks to everyone, it was tons of fun both on the track and in the pits.

Why dont you come and race!?!?!
Nothing wrong with coming to watch:
Thats how I became familiar with the OTC group, Josh. Not that I met you but I was sizeing you and the crew up on speed/skill. I was introduced to Tim via Team Cosmic Quad and continued to come watch until I could attend a race and run. I think I watched 4-5races before running Smith...I enjoyed it. What I noticed was the "B"class and the closely matched machines made for great racing...Not that the "A" class was a bore. "B" class left me with the I could be out there have'n that much fun dicing it up, feel. Bring a grill and some cold beverages make a day of it and hangout.

I would race, but I'd have to finish my machine up and it prolly wont happen until the fall. I've never raced on a track before, or jumped for that matter though. I always wanted to do cross country or flat track, but I dont think I can on my 86 x. Ha ha
