Back in the 60's my wife's Dad and his buddies used to go out on the lake over here used to put on ice skates and bring a bed sheet. One guy on each side of the bed sheet and a good tail wind would get them blazing down the lake.

actually NO it's not with ski's you have a double cutting edge,,plus when the wind dies , you can push yourself along,,like skateing..snowboard, you gotta un strap and walk...

I would think that ice skates would be the best for this.
