Big Red 250es Pinion gear Removal Tools

I am dyin here guys, please let me know if anyone can help. I am rebuilding a Big Red 250es and the guy I bought it from thought it was cool to tie it behind his boat and float it across the lake. Anyways everything is rusted out and I am trying to remove the pinion gear from the case but I can find the removal tools in the shop manual anywhere. Does anyone have any advice on how to remove the pinion gear?????

Go get the tool used to remove water heater elements. Worked perfectly for me.
