That is gonna look sweet with the rear lifted. Did you consider putting a 200X or 350X front end on it? That would probably get you the lift you wanted without welding and it would get you some nicer front brakes and suspension. I can't wait to see it wrapped.

Mondexbrute
02-21-2010, 12:57 PM
Oh yeah I thought about the front end swap, probably should have done it! But I gotta save something for a future project.

Mondexbrute
02-21-2010, 07:59 PM
I ordered new rear fenders & tank this afternoon.

MudBug
02-21-2010, 09:36 PM

Mondexbrute
02-22-2010, 09:18 PM
I put a new HID headlight bulb today, hopefully the rear lift will be done tomorrow! Left pic is with the new HID bulb, right is the old bulb. I will get some pics at night too.

Mondexbrute
02-24-2010, 04:28 PM
Well the lift is done, the front is a little higher than the rear, Im not to happy about it but there is nothing I can really do about it! I am gonna go with a 27" tire in the rear so that will give the rear another inch or so. Pics below, let me know if ya like, if ya don't I really don't care! Starting on the camo wrap right now.

I don't think Maier would be willing to make a 1 off set of CAMO plastics for a Big Red!

03-03-2010, 08:50 PM
lol mud's cat on his head, google Trailer Park Boys, I'm Ricky watch an episode of our Canadain show right Mud. Nice project going there, did you say you ordered new fenders and tank or are you going to use that Camo wrap product. I wanted to buy that stuff but your US supplier wont ship to us up here. Also what name brand of rims and tires do you have I need rubber on this new 85 I bought and thought I might go camo (if I can find a supplier) and nice rims ..seems to have a trend going but I like it. Time I bought new plastics (300 ) to get to Winnipeg so I figure cover the repairs with Camo.

Northman try this site - http://www.camowraps.com/

The front tire is a ITP Mudlight 27x10x12, the front rim is a ITP Billet Magnum which is not made anymore! Got it off of ebay for $25
The rear tire are Highlifter Outlaws 26x12x12, rear rims are also made by highlifter. Check em out here - http://highlifter.com/

Ya I found those guys in past and they said they would not ship to Canada then I emailed them yesterday and they said they would. Did you order a sheet or are they cutting out a pattern for the BIg Red. I was thinking either new miier fenders which delivered up here would be roughly 320 bucks or 185 for the camo cover. I am torn what you guys do ?

Mondexbrute
03-05-2010, 09:11 PM
I ordered the standard ATV kit from them. The camo wrap is going on brand new Maier fenders. Looks like I won't have the plastics back until next week, they are taking their sweet F'n time!

Northman
03-05-2010, 09:58 PM
Noticed your ordering a tank too ? it have rust or you just want to keep all original stuff without camo on it? I broken down last couple hours and tracked down a dealer in Canada, i'm going CAMO on my back up driver the 85. But im just going to cover the old crack and dinged ones , I figure hey its camo you probably wont notice the imperfections right? What pattern are you going with ? and you got the 2 x (4x5) sheets I imagine.

Mondexbrute
03-06-2010, 12:33 AM
My original tank is too nice to put camo wrap on, I went with Realtree HD camo pattern. I don't know how big the sheets are but there was a total of 40sq feet of wrap, which is more than enough!

goodgreenbandit
03-06-2010, 02:23 AM
Bitin' @ the bit to see how this thing's gonna turn out. Nice trike and work man. Just wondering, isn't the camo gonna get scraped off. Just a thought. My buddy keeps bugging about customizing my 85 250ES. If this camo works out, I might be down, never thought about camo'n it out!!

How much longer is the travel? Can you do a straight swap, or do you need special parts. Kinda new to this Honda thing, but as far as I can tell so far, they're all modeled somewhat alike, as far as bolts, nuts, and the like.

Mondexbrute
03-06-2010, 12:09 PM
The camo wrap stuff is pretty darn thick material, the front is like 4 or 5" (was supposed to be 2") the rear is 2". As far as the swaps go I am not the person to be asking, I just really don't know! Start a new tread about this topic, I know someone on here has done it.

Northman
03-06-2010, 08:16 PM
My tanks are pretty nice too but, Iam sure that camo wrap can be removed without damage I wonder? cause then its a great way to preserve them. Still pretty torn though to not have matching machines or go unique, the covers are 4x5 and there are two of them, maybe I will do the old 185 too as it is looking old. Are you going to do anything about the red plastic under the fenders ? I was thinking there will be enough to do both sides. ALso curious how the bending will don over rear fenders where the rack mounts will take a bit of stretching with a blow dryer.

Northman
03-06-2010, 08:22 PM
Did you say the REALTREE HD ? did you mean realtree AP or APG design as both of those are HD ? I am thinking the APG for summer for mine

Mondexbrute
03-07-2010, 08:17 PM
The camo I used is Realtree HD APG. I think I am going to spary the back side of the fenders with truck bedliner, that will also help keep the camo from peeling up. have you seen Skiffy's build?

Thats a nice camo trike, hey I noticed that the tank looks like he used 3 pieces I guess you can t stretch over the tank in one piece ? you can see the cuts he did it must have taken some trial and error

TheRealFatShady
03-09-2010, 09:53 PM
Did you powdercoat the frame? If you don't mind me asking, any approximate total for the powdercoating on the rest of the parts pictured?

I've been wanting to do my entire engine in a polished/gloss black. Don't know if grill paint will polish up/withstand the heat.

Mondexbrute
03-09-2010, 10:45 PM
No I did not powdercoat the frame, $100 for the parts pictured. By the way Im still waiting on my plastics & gas tank.

Northman
03-09-2010, 10:53 PM
I noticed that the tank on the link you left looks like he used 3 seperate pieces to apply on the gas tank I guess you can t stretch over the tank in one piece ?

I am so over this CAMO wrap trailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro! http://www.csisignco.com/ is the company that was supposed to do the wrap for me, well I guess they have bigger jobs to do & more money to make, I picked up my plastics from them after almost 3 weeks & nothing had been done! They gave me a guys number that they had just FIRED, I got in touch with him & everything SHOULD be done by Monday! I kinda wish I wouldn't have bought this damn CAMO wrap stuff after all!

I would make it camo and put the bigred stickers over the camo.(if u werent already gona do that)

JohnR.
03-17-2010, 04:13 PM
If you're planning on putting vinyl on a plastic tank, save yourself the trouble. The fumes from the gas will make the sticker peel off. You could probably coat the inside with a Kreem type product and that should stop the fumes from penetrating.

Northman
03-17-2010, 05:58 PM
I like the pattern I was thinking the same one, did you get removable camo decal or the permanent version? was it hard to plan your pattern ?

Northman
03-17-2010, 06:02 PM
You ever consider a camo seat cover too ? I would cover the metal tank too if plastic is a pain, and I would agree that the big red sticker should go over tank and sides but custom cut out the red stripes in stickers. I have extra set of decals I bought just for that reason.

Mondexbrute
03-17-2010, 06:42 PM
it is supposed to be removable. I like my black seat cover.

nice Job! If you do the tank go over it with some steel wool then some alchol or something to almost dry the plastic it will stick. yet after a while it will bubble which you can pop with a razorblade! also maybe some foam on that sweet snorkle! that is such a mad scientist idea love it!

Hey guy, awesome build, I'm building a 250 BR myself, curious to know what size pipe you used for snorkel, how you hooked up to airbox, did u use existing outlet hose, or a newer radiator hose? Lift looks great, have a guy here in East texas that will fab it up for me cheap! Wife thinks i'm crazy for sinking so much $ in a trike, just wanna kick mud in some guy's face on high $ ATV!
