Well, just figured I'd tell about yesterdays mishap, Was on one side of the garage weldng away, never took any notice, About 5 feet behind me, some sparks from the welder must of got under the skidoo bonnet, and caught fuel lines/ tank. I noticed a glow in the corner of my welding helmet. By the time i reaklized the fire the full skidoo was engulfed, I did what I could to stop t but due to heavy smoke and fear of the tank blowing up, i waited idly outside waiting for the fre deparment to come. The FD got there in an amasingly quick time, which I applaude them for. Well the elan that caught burnt completly, spread to the other skidoo, which spread to the couch and etc, etc. Now my garage is completly burnt out . The only things I salvaged were my chainsaw which was protected by the case and some hand tools like wrenches. Everything else is destroyed, Including my 200M. Sorry for the rant but i'm pretty bummed about this. Got to start from scratch again. Crappy times.

Yeah, not much longer i got out, the skidoo tank blew shortly followed byt the trike tires, We started picking up the materials to rebuild today, And got a much better garage planned. It was such an intense heat the clutches and carbs melted off the skidoos

Well the wind was blowing strong away from the house. The flames bust the windows and curled out, and if not for the wind it would of caught the house too, The vinyl siding is melted off the side. Once again i have to thank the volunteer fire dept, if they wer a minute slower the house been on fire too.

Tell me about, The killer is, I had no gas bottles in the area, and the skidoo that caught a fire was parked on the other side of the garage. Just by fluke the right spark hit.

I'm terrified of fire..... Everything I love is in that shed (besides my animals in the house). In my case, that would be a 30K dollar loss in my SHED!!/Garage..... Probably more than that and insurance will only cough up so much. My ins. company will not cover ATV/ATC's and I asked about parts. My agent wasn't sure......... But I have ALLOT of parts I value in there so I hope it's always AOK.

I felt better when I sheetrocked/insulated it - at least that slows the fire down. I try to stay in the shop for 30 minutes after welding but this happened WHILE you were welding!

Again, so sorry for your loss. Maybe if everyone bands together we can help you get another ATC runner :beer

Get squared away and then throw up a post.

Glad your AOK anyhow..............

Man, that sucks. I am happy that the house didnt catch too, otherwise you wouldnt be posting here right now.

Best of luck, hopefully insurance will cover the losses, and maybe a slightly bigger unit can be built!

Sorry to hear about this, you seem to have the right attitude about it though, now you can build it back up even better than it was before. Did you have the garage insured? Good luck whatever happens

Yeah DC. Insurance wont cover out contents. Our garage was covered as a building under our house insurance, but the contents wernt covered. Yesterday I went out and salvaged what I could. About all I got a sockets and wrenches. The damages were looking at are valued at over 10k. At first just due to schock didnt realize the stuff gone, Like generators, survuval suits, and a set of handmade made sails that were in a carrying case for our 18ft recational sail boat. Looking at it now realized how much is gone.
Now on for the good news, The structure of the garage can be saved. We've got the sheetrock/ lights and vinykl siding and lots of other stuff picked up to do the garage. Got it gutted and is starting on it wed or thur. Now whats done is done, and I'm exicted to get cracking on it to make a much better garage. Also In regards to the trike, ;) I got one eyed up, that may make its way home Fri. So once again thanks for the words guys, and be looking forward to progress pics of the garage.

^ lol..... Glad your handling it AOK. I still say we can band together and try to get you a trike - I have some parts I can donate.......

Anyhow, when I was a kid my nickname was "FIREBUG"; My father said I just couldn't keep lighting stuff on fire and I loved it :D of course, he would spank the heck out of me when he got home, but I never learned. Spanking a kid isn't a bad thing, it teaches VALUABLE LESSONS!!

Take care bud................

Although I had taken precautions in this situation I was fire bug when younger. And if any guys had some parts to sell I'd be interested when I get the stuff for the garage picked up completly. Then I'd be intersted in buying stuff.

Wow, if anyone knows how you feel its me. Our brand new 12000sq ft transmission shop had a car catch on fire after hours a year after it was new. By the time smoke was running out the vents and someone reported the fire the car was smoldered down to a shell. No major structural damage thank god. But the smoke damage killed everything.

Hope everything works out for you man.
