Well, I got the new CDI. Dropped it in and she fired right up

Runs pretty good, only one problem, I have a bent tie rod up front so its a little out of alignment.

Okay now it runs well, but when its just sitting there idling it sounds like a chain is loose in the piston area, but when I rev it up it goes away. Anyone know what that could be???

Here are new pics, the last one is the orginal when I got it, and the others have been taken today.

Turned out great, what kind of paint did you use on the plastics?

Sounds like the timing chain might be loose. I would have assumed it would have a auto tightner but maybe not.

Looks damn good

No paint on fenders, the only thing painted are the headlights, they were so bad I couldnt save them. The fenders were sanded with my orbital sander then with my dremel & the plastic polish brush & some goop & polishing compound I worked them over.

It has the bolt coming out of the side of the cylinder head, but I dont know if its auto adjusting or not. My repair manual isnt here yet so I dont know how to adjust it.

For some reason it looks like needs a front rack i dont know why but it does. might be because it doesnt have a bumber. but i wonder what it would look like with front and rear rack.

Yup, wolverines dont look right without the front rack, and yours looks alot like a wolverine. you should get some racks.

no definitly i would not put any racks on it inless you are going to need them, just put a frnt bumper on it,and yes they have an automatic
tensioner,i have an 88 look just like yours but insted of blue and white mine is red and white.what did you use to get the white so bright?

I did the following to the fenders, with my orbital sander & 220 grit paper, I sanded until it was white. THen I took my dremel & the plastic polishing brush & a combo of polishing compound & GOOP and polished the fenders.

Well its all back together and all cleaned, & puuuurrrsss like a kitten. I put on an 88 carb with a thumb throttle, front bumper, new o-ring chain, new CDI, new gas tank & cap, new chain adjusters, grab bar, fixed the electric start, cleaned and painted, looks pretty good for the age, and runs very nice. Just wanted to share.

Now does anyone want to trade a 4x4 quad for it straight up?
