i have an 81 250r that i am swapping the fork assembly over to an 85 model. looking for someone who has done this before because...... the 81 model had the old style "loose" bearings cups and the 85 has tapered bearings. i tried to use the tapered races from my 85 frame into the 81 and they fit too loose, so it would appear i need to use the old bearings on the new fork assembly.... what i was hoping is that someone could point me towards a solution for keeping the tapered bearings as i like that style much better! looking for a conversion kit/ proper size race and bearing setup to complete this conversion. i have seen it done before i know there is a solution other than using the old style bearings( at least i hope so), thanks for reading

The lower end will still need to use the 81 style, the upper can use the tapered bearings.

That is a really nice tecate.. What kind of thumb throttle is on it, and do you know if it uses the stock cable?

Stock the tecates came with a twist throttle. We are building a Tecate for the wife and she wants a thumb throttle.
