yamaha tri moto 200
needs tons of cleaning up and some work as well
i dropped off the seat yesterday to be re-covered, the pan is fine and the foam might not even need to be replaced if i'm lucky.
i build furniture for a living, and am highly mechanical, and have a very well equipped shop ( hand tools, drill press, small mig, compressor ) and have a friend who's a machinist as well, so having parts fabricated is an option.
i know almost zero about engines however.
i can see it is going to need some of the wiring re-done, a new coil, and exhaust as an obvious start.
but on to the good stuff, the pull starter cord is locked up fully pulled out,( no kick start ) and the guy i got it from says it runs well but smokes .
he said REALLY smokes, not just a little bit.
i'm clueless as to why that is and what to do to fix it. all new engine gaskets ??? re-build the top end ??? re-build the entire motor ???
i just found the factory service manual in PDF forn, and am printing that out now, so at least i'll have that to help. but...............................
but i need all the help i can get.
the nearest bike shop is 25 miles away, but i'm hoping i can get my chainsaw dealer to rebuild the carb for me.
any advice i can get is seriously appericated.
thanks, and i look forward to learning some very cool stuff here, and can't wait to get riding this thing
