Just put a fresh top end in a 250r, and the new piston is hitting the head. Would a 5mm Base plate fix this or should i go shorter piston. Oh and i just found out the Crank is a hot rod.

What year bottom end yo have?If its 87 and up bottom you need a 87-89 piston, OR you can run a short rod piston 85-86 along with a cyl base spacer. Need more specs on your setup

i ran the vin and came up 1986. the guy it came from said it was stock bike. but once the head was off i seen it had hot rod crank, the piston was destroyed. So i had it bored and piston to match. and put it back together and it wouldn't crank over. pulled the head off and the piston goes higher than the jug.

if you put a short rod piston in it,,, and you have a long rod motor,, bingo,, it hits.. thats the only way... how much does it come up above the cylinder,,?? it would be 5mm if you have a long rod motor,, what piston did you get a 526 or a 562??
Once apart, the 88/89 long rod is prefered by most. Obviously the problem. Like mentioned, get a spacer plate or a 88/89 piston.

all the new hot rods cranks are long rods, they no longer make short rod cranks
