I have an early '90's yamaha breeze that I have a question about. I was riding it when all of the sudden it sounded different. I thought that maybe there was a hole in the exhaust. (again). So I pulled over and had a look while it was still running. And I noticed right away that there was a lot of air blowing from somewhere but it wasn't the exhaust. Then I saw that it was coming from a breather tube that connected to the head close to the the cam. I could feel the air coming out of it and I could also hear it. The atv runs normal. What happened?

btw. The air flow speeds up as the rpms raise.

Hey!

I figured out where the noise came from and why it didn't seem to have much power. The carburetor wasn't connected very well. The boot that runs from the carb to the head was cracked and the carb was actually sagging between the engine and the air filter. And also the clamp that held the carb to the air filter was loose. So I wrapped it with electrical tape to see if I was correct that it was leaking air and it worked! Now I need to get those rubber boots ordered and it will be running in no time.
