This is a new project of mine that im taking on and im wondering if anyone on here has done this for insight or even some pics of their conversions for some motivation, hehe.

This is kinda what im going for. Currently I have the rear part of the chasis stripped and painted along with the rearend. Also im picking up a very clean, rust free cab this weekend that should save me quite a bit of time. this will be a slow moving project but sick none the less, lol

Yep I did the conversion . I used a chevy 4 bolt main 400 small block all tricked out in my S10 also had a turbo 400 short shaft tranny and 373 gears in the rear end . Hooker header used to make the kit . Came with headers and motor mounts . I have some pics if you wanna see .

Mine was a 1983 long bed version GMC s15 but still the same as the s10 . I did this conversion back in 1989 . Lowered 3" . Motor was balanced and blue printed and was putting out about 350 HP and just stupid fast . Man I got alot of stories racing that thing

i will have to find some pics of mine, we used the hooker header kit and it was awsome, first time it had a 383 stroker with brodex aluminum heads, turbo 350 manual valve body, 12bolt rear narrowed. i went for the go fast look i am not a low rider kind of guy.
second motor was a big als toy box 671 blower on a 383 with brodex heads putting down 750hp.
doing the s10 swap is one of the easiest swaps there are.
building cars and trucks have been my life, i started at 16 with a 73 z28 i purchased with my own cash.easily been 200 cars and trucks in my driveway over my 47 years of life

Yeah... Did a prostreet one once... Custom made a set of long tube headers for it that were a real p.i.t.a. to install... Had to stab the headers at the same time the motor was going in...

There are still a few 350 S10's around up here too... never had one personally but a friend did and it was SICK!!! I was in his shop when he was working on fabbing up his motor mounts and it really did look pretty easy... no computer, no problem! Another friend did a similar swap in his Chevy Astro van and I liked it so much I came very close to doing the same to my old Astro van too but opted for MPG's instead of HP with a rebuilt V6. Good luck with your build and keep it shiny side up!

I've got a '92 S-10 short box that used to have a '92 crate 350 and muncie M-22 4 speed.

Gotta love the manual trans !!

Motor is gone....trans is gone. Truck just sits under the carport now....cats sleep on it at night.

Good times.

if you plan to make big power stahl offers some large tube headers.. spendy though... helped my roomate build one a few years back... very easy swap.. his was an '89 originally four banger.. had sanderson shorty headers they required some firewall clearancing... used the OE trans crossmember and relocated it to match the th350.. we removed the fuel pump from the tank and extended the pickup tube.. his never had a speedo but i'm sure someone makes an adapter for the elecric speedo... a different friend of mine owns the truck now... he's running a 400hp 355 with a t56 trans.. hooked it up to the stock hydro clutch pedal.. and he put a custom disc braked nine inch rear... detroit locker.. 3.50 gears. I drove it home from the dunes a month ago when he hurt his leg riding.. these are fun lil trucks.. IMO they are way cooler than a fox body mustang... and just as cheap to build.

Hey shortline that is a nice looking truck. Today i made some more progress. I got a 350 picked up and hopefully soon I'll start building it, Nothing too rediclous, just decent power and something that isnt gonna grenade, lol. Also getting ready to do the cab swap this week since i finished work yesterday, Should pick up a bit.

That sounds like a fun truck, And yup I agree. They dont cost a huge fortune to build and i"ve always loved them over many cars, (although I had a fox body mustang).
