5th gear

I have a 85 tri z I bought about 2 months ago, runs great, starts 2nd kick every time only problem.. click into 5th gear, grabs for a split second then just slips. All other gears grab fine. I am totally new to the game any ideas where to start would be much appreciated.

Usually the high gears slip before the lower gears because they have more load on them. Sounds like you may need a new clutch. What does the tranny sound like when you shift into 5th, does it sound like the gear may be missing teeth? Your best bet would be to post something like this in Trikesylvania.
