I will venture 2 guesses.

A linkage kit for 450R Swingers?

Or some sort of lowering kit for flat trackers?

Billy Golightly
09-08-2010, 09:09 PM
All good guesses so far! Keep them up...I'll give another teaser pic tomorrow.

Wow i'm really confused on what it could be now!:wondering The only thing that i could see it being is some kind of one off missile bike conversion. Am I getting closer?

Does it make you feel big to tease the common folk in this way? Just tell them already. Screw it, I will.

You guys have heard of the Boss Hoss motorcycle right, Well this frame hes building will take the masive Chevy 350/305 power plant just like the bike does. Hes scared my 500 will be so fast he feel the power from Maine, So hes showing me, LOL.

You all are WAAAAAYYYYYY off. It's a 250R that's reversed, you have the two wheels in front & the rear wheel steers it.

Finally, somebody is going to start playing around with the frame geometry. Can't wait to hear about your plans.

Billy Golightly
09-22-2010, 11:01 PM
Yeah its a 250R frame jig. I know HRE did the full chromoly 250R frame, but we never seen any pictures of his fixture or anything. I'm building another 500 in this one right now, and when its done I've got a CR125 aluminum frame that I'll be able to start experimenting on and doing some different stuff. The adjustable steering neck, to change the rake on the frames is going to be really handy. The square tubing is 3inch, 5/16ths holes drilled and tapped on one inch centers allows me to move everything forward/backwards, and everything has been built elevated to slower frame rails can go in, that type of stuff. Spent a lot of time thinking about it, definitely not perfect but not bad for a first attempt I don't think at building one.

250R frame to bolt up a 450 4 stroke, sign me up too! Nice work. I was going to vote something with a single ski and track rear before as I was reading through the thread.

Vealmonkey
09-23-2010, 04:01 PM
You won't be able to make an ASW frame in a jig like this. And where would he get the dimensions anyway? No one has asked for any dimensions from me, and I've got the only one I've ever seen. LOL Also, I'm not sure how his frame table is. Alot of tables need a frame to make jigs off of and I don't think Billy has too many 90 frames to make jigs from. I think Billy would be better off making his own custom 90 frame and building those. Also, before I forget, I believe SWIGIN was the first to mention a frame jig.

Billy Golightly
09-23-2010, 04:12 PM
Yeah SWIGIN mentioned frame jig/fixture first. He's the lucky guesser!

The way mine is setup, I pretty much need a frame to fixture in all the positions first, and then I can build to those points and duplicate them. So I'd pretty much need whatever I was going to build, first.

I *do* have a really cool idea I haven't put on the fixture yet that would make it EXTREMELY easy to do engine swaps into 250R frames (Or anything else with 250R geometry...)

Billy Golightly
09-23-2010, 04:16 PM
Now, this isn't to say that I can't/won't be able to build a frame from scratch with my own geometry, but its better to experiment and work off of other designs as I'm learning and going about it.

Billy Golightly

Well I finished my first 500R conversion frame on the new jig and shipped it back to its owner today. Really happy with how it turned out and how much easier it really has made working on and doing things. I've got the initial time invested to make the jig and all the fixture points, but It has definitely been a time saver already on the actual fabrication work.
