Looks like I might have an opportunity to trade my 87 warrior for an 87 big bear. Does anyone know if they have any cronic problems? I am asking because the part availability for them is alot less than the warrior, and if something goes..im stuck  The front headlight is broke out, but we have agreed to take care of that. The tires on it are apparently cracked, but still hold air. What do you guys think?

My uncle picked up a 1991 Big Bear last fall and so far it has been great. Although no where near the towing power of my Foreman (we had a little tug-of-war... :D )

But anyways, it looks great. I would jump on it, although its no where near as sporty. BTW: They dont go too well in the deep snow (at least my uncles didnt, even with chains on)

Im not worried about the snow...I have a cycle country snow plow to put in front of it. Thats basically why I want the utility quad. I dont think my warrior will do that great at plowing snow.

You'll regret trading that Warrior for the Big Bear if its only the 230cc model - But, If its the 350cc ..... hhhmmmm

no its the 350cc, your thinking bear tracker is 230cc, the big bear has the same motor as the warrior does, alot of the parts are the same, except for the trannies & final drive. I have decided to make the swap, I am a big guy and I think a utility quad is more to my suiting. The next sport bike i get will be a 350x trike (always wanted one of those). Anyway I have a plow I was going to put on the warrior but I think this big bear will do a much better job pushing snow. The worse part is that it will need a new set of tires, and it appears that the big bear is a 89-90 model not an 87-88. I heard some bad things about the steering and suspension on the 87-88 models that they fixed in the later ones.

My uncles also came with the stock tires (still on there too). His rides nice...the suspension is plush. Good luck with it

Big Bears have always been great machines. A Friend of mine has one on his golf course. He prefers it to the tractors. I enjoyed the way it rode the few times ive ridden it.

My buddy built one with a mild cam, carb, port work, and exhaust. Hes turning 27" mudlights and using the snorkel. He's putting 28"s on it this spring, plenty of motor, you can ride wheely's on it all day.

Looks like I might have an opportunity to trade my 87 warrior for an 87 big bear. The Big Bear has the same top-end as the Warrior;there is alot of those still out there, still going..

The guy at my farm had a bigbear, a late model one.......so it was grey, they had it for only a few years and the rear drive shaft, axel etc stripped out! Its now sittting in his shed, broken.
I really dont like these........but when it was going it wasnt to bad i guess!

Thanks for the input guys, but I broke down and bought a honda trx 300 4x4. Very very nice bike, not fast but it will plow the snow big time. It was dashing through snow my warrior wouldnt even go 6in in.

MK -- that Big Bear has the same engine as a Warrior and the tranny has a low range that the Warrior didn't... How could you have gone wrong???
