I'd like to get a utility 4-wheeler and have only ridden a Foreman ES and Polaris Sportsman, so I don't have much of an opinion. I do know a few things that I want for sure;

2X4
No shift
Reverse
Good puller for farm work BUT
Fun to ride the trails with

Any opinions?

Well....what do you mean by no shift? Do you mean no foot shift (Electric Shift), or no shifting at all (CVT :? )

If you want the ES, then I reccommend the Honda Rancher ES, Recon ES, or the Foreman ES with the 2x4/4x4 switch (I have it and LOVE it)

If you want a CVT tranny...your choices are Kawasaki, polaris, Arctic Cat, and Suzuki...

Hey, thanks for the input guys, exactly what I was after.

ATC Crazy, what's the diff. between ES and CVT?

ES is electric shift...Basically you shift between the 5 gears with the push of a button located on the left hand handlebar, instead of with your foot.

Now...a CVT is a belt transmission. Fully automatic with a high and low range (usually). No shifting at all...just throw it in gear and go.

Or you could get the Honda Rancher 400, Rubicon 500, or Rincon 650 with a fully automatic transmission. The Rancher and Rubicon have a Hydromechanical transmission which operates on hydrallic pressure....therefore....no belts to wear out, slip, break, or get wet.

The Rincon uses a 3 speed tranny very similar to a cars automatic transmission.

All these machines allow you to select different modes so you can ride by using the fully automatic setting...or you can push a button and shift by using the Electric Shift mode too...

I was gonna suggest a new Honda Rancher AT. they are 2 or 4wd. I'd get a yami if I didn't get a honda.

I'd rather find a good used one, but might be able to work a new one into next year's budget.
