I am looking to buy a helmet soon, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on a helmet I can get on a budget. Also are there any helmets I should avoid?

Bell is the #1 helmet....price is not the cheapest, but very affordable (mine was)

My parents just got a pair of HJC (also very good) for $99 each. They even have the Snell approval which is a stricter safety test that it must pass.

I crashed wearing a Fulmer af-sx. It held together very well considering the speed (wide open 4th gear on 350x). I bought another one just like it.

I've got an Arai, and I like it. Its hella comfortable and most of the padding can come out to be washable.

i would have to say that HJC is one of the best helmets out there right now for the price and comfort. i have noticed many moto x guys wearing them. REMEMBER the only reason the top mx guys are wearing SHOEI OR BELL is b/c they dont have to pay for them. i have hjc helmets and they are the best...................... :Beerchug :Beerchug :Pimp :Pimp :clap :D

I think you guys all missed something, what are you using it for and what kind of rideing do you do.I have a VEGA snowmobile helmet and it works fine it doesnt scrach all that easy.It has the fog and shatter proof viser(double flexy) shield wich i take off during the summer. It also has a nose guard so you dont breath on the shield directly. All the padding either snaps or is velcroted in to wash.

I have a vega also. seems like a nice helmet but it's nothing special. I also don't ride very hard do buying a $400 helmet isn't necessary. I race karts and that entails a $400 helmet :)

( no offense 200xer or atcpunck but we down here dont invest in vega my smaller cousins did and theirs scratched when you sat it down thats the scratching im talking about. they keep them alive though ive never had a crash but they have so i guess they are ok but the ones down here scratch too easy(my opinon)

by the way just so you know last i checked-the oldest of my two younger cousins was ahead 34 crashes younger 21 crashes last i checked lol

Well i think you can either buy one helmet that is good for both summer and winter or buy one for each season, a snomobile or streetbike helmet woud be a better choice if you only go with one thought
