I picked up a 1975 Yamaha MX 400 B for 200.00. The guy says the cold comp. is 80 and thinks it needs a piston or rings or both. I will pull it apart soon and take a look. I used to have a MX 100 that was a fast little bike. I cant wait to see what Its big brother 400 2 stroke can do! I read up on this bike and from what I found, It was made for one yr, and was the first mono shock bike that Yamaha relesed to the public.

If anyone has any info to share on this bike send it my way.
Thanks, Nick

They are good runners I had a 75 DT400 basically the same as yours with turn signals and different sprockets, it had some pep but was all it could do to run at highway speeds (65-70), overall it was a pretty cool bike and fun to run around town on, I sold it this spring for $1800 so you got an extreemly good deal on the MX

I had a DT400 as well. Great bikes, suprising power, and fun to ride. The MX should be a fun runner. Not bad looking either!

For 2 hundo i figured I could'nt go wrong. Im going to strip it down, clean and paint everything. I have looked on ebay and there is parts avail for cheap. It sholud be a easy fix, thats if it even need a top end rebuild. I havnt had time yet to try to get it running. Ill try to find some side covers and maybe get a new seat cover. Thanks for the replys.
