My buddy has a Contour 720p HD helmetcam and I have a Hero GoPro HD - thought it would be interesting to compare footage from both cameras - here is the comparison (be sure to view in 720p mode):

Next I'd be interested to compare it to the new 1080p Contour!

I think the White Banshee sounds better than the black one....hehehe..But the black one looks better.
Oh there was video comparison? J/k

The HD Hero looks better. The other one must have had a smudge on the lense. It seems blurry, and darker picture.
Nice ride area.
Thanks for putting this up. I am still debating on what Go Pro to buy.

Dammit!

This makes me glad I have the GoPro HD. I just bought a level10 32gig sd card for it. Can't wait to get some footage on the dunes! :Bounce

Mine was delivered today. Got lucky and somebody was home to accept it. I won't get home for a few more hours.

This is the card I just got. 70$ is as cheap as it gets for class 10. Its sold out now but they do have a kingston card that might have better reliability.

Very nice Bretmd94 - I also have a 32gig card, but mine is only class 4 (lexar platinum II). But for what it's worth, I've never had a problem with class 4 even at 1080p.

It depends what you are filming, but for helmetcam use on my ORVs when using the R2 setting of the GoPro HD (720p, 170 degree FOV, 30fps) 17 mins of footage consumes approx 1 gigabyte (so for a 32 gig card, you can expect approx 9 hours of footage.

I use the 720p mode, because @ 1080p the FOV (field of view) is cut from 170 degrees to 127... very stupid if you ask me.

I recommend you grab a couple extra batteries if you have a 32 gig card... you'll get about 2.5 hours from each battery. I ordered 2 extra batteries from China (eBay) and they (so far) work just as well as the one that came with the camera. I paid about $20 each for the extra batteries (free shipping too!), if you're interested, here's the auction I bought from:

B&H Photo had 32GB class 10 Transcend cards for like $63 last time I looked. I've been using one in my Canon with good results.

Being able to film with a 127 degree FOV is a good thing in my opinion. There are times when you want to bring the action closer to the camera and the smaller FOV has that effect. Too bad it can't do 60fps at 1080p though.

Can't wait to try this thing out...

I made the mistake of buying my first card off ebay. It ended up being a copy of a kingston made in china. It recorded about 10 seconds and the rest was static. I was on my street bike too so I was riding around like a maniac for 30 min "showing off" for the camera and got no footage.

I figure newegg wont let me down. They have a great return policy as well so if its bunk I can send it back.

The extra batteries is a good idea. I might pick one up. Once the US90 is running well im headed to the coast with all my trikes for a movie making trip. I have a friend with a freshly restored 87 KXT 250 and a blue US90 as well. Hopefully in the next couple months I can put together a decent 3-wheeler movie.
