Please vote tommorrow http://www.in.gov/legislative/house_democrats/vandenburgh_index.html She needs to make the house, otherwise the repubicans will rule the house and then the working man is in trouble. If get up everyday and put in a hard days work, VOTE FOR HER! WE can't have these guys take our unemployment insurance away, cause if you for a contractor your SCREWED no matter how much of the year you work, you will be considered a seasonal worker and also Indiana will be a "Right to work state", which means people off the streets can have your job for less pay, so if you went to college or a trade school it won't mean SQUAT. Your time and money WASTED..PLEASE don't let it happen...Beets

So you think it's right to guarantee people get payed even if their services aren't really needed and someone else will possibly do it cheaper and or at a higher quality?

Capitalism works both ways. Doing something cheaper might get the work but alot of time it means at a lower quality.

People are willing to pay a higher price if a higher quality of service is provided to them.

Don't think of it as someone is taking your job because they're undercutting you, look at it as, more people do the work you do so therefore it lowers the value of your work. Maybe you need need to find something or develop a skill that is less available.

It's supply and demand, if there is low demand but high supply it means the supply is worth less.

If there' low supply but high demand then the supply is worth more.

What your suggesting is that the value of your work is legislated and kept artificially high just because you feel you're entitled to a higher wage then what the market is valuing the work you do at.

You're also saying that you don't feel it's right that someone else gets a job because they're willing to do it for less.

Well look at it from another perspective, if you're wanting to purchase a trike you look for the BEST trike you can get for the LEAST amount of money.

Would you agree with a law that says no matter how crappy a trike is, it's worth X amount of money even if it's not worth that?

Maybe instead of wanting the dems to keep your wage high artificially you should say to yourself, gee, if I was willing to work for less I could have more work!

Instead you want to be unhappy because there's someone out there willing to do the same work for less money. Wait a minute, you could be that person working! If only you were willing to accept less money.

I know what you're saying though, "But Louis! I cant afford to live if I accept less money!"

Then I say to you, at that point you need to find something else to do that will making you the amount of money you need.

And then you say "But LOUIS! I don't know how to do anything else, and I already invested a bunch of money in knowing how to do what i know how to do."

Well sadly that's were I reply and say "Life isn't fair, it's a rock and it only gets harder, but you know what always has made America great? When the going gets tough, the tough get going."

It's that simple. When it gets hard and you feel like you're not getting what you deserve you can either be unhappy, cry and expect someone to hand you a solution or you can say, I'm gonna work harder, for as long as I have to until things are better and then maybe I'll get a chance to rest when things are good again.

I'm not speaking from a dem or repub view point. I'm speaking from a REAL American view point.

We can't expect the government or anyone for that matter to make things magically better for us, only we the people can do that. I for one won't waste my time voting for people when I can take the bull by the horns and do something about my situtation myself.

I know though, "BUT LOUIS, you have a decent job and plenty of trikes and right now things are good for you."

It's true I'm blessed but if suddenly it was all gone tomorrow I know I would do whatever it took to get headed in the right direction again, and I wouldn't waste time waiting on someone in a government position to fix it for me.

i do agree that we need to vote, but i am voting to take America back from the politicians. the primary was very big this year, we got rid of many bad people there and we need to back it up with this election. then even more important will be to back it up in 2 more years. we MUST take our country back. some people will be mad but we need to cut spending everywhere other than military. we even need to cut entire programs. it is the only way out of the mess we are in. it may be that a program i like gets cut but that is ok with me. i just hope we are not at the point of no return already.

PS. liberal democrats are the reason 3 wheelers got what they did in the 80s.

Who was the talk show host that said "People, don't let the government do for you what you can do for your self", this is kinda what everyone is saying. THE PROBLEM with politics, is every one's opinion and knowledge is a little different (and fits them) and so they think they are right. That's why no one can agree, because no one is the same or has the same rights or ideas. Even if some one takes a political science, business law and constitutional study classes, it'll come right down to that individuals opinion. In the 80's we were taught in school politics. In the 90's my parents became Pastor's. I have to look at both way of thinking and have learned to in-twine information from both realms. I could tell all the things (and even show in writing) that were predicted in the late 80's and early 90's that has now happened and would scare the hell outa ya. No matter who you vote for, this country WILL fail. I'll still stand, but it's too far gone. At least it will not be as the country we were once made to believe will always be free. Can't give one person special rights with out wrecking anothers. And no more majority rules crap. If you want representation you have to give cold hard cash for it-

the dems have been running the show since 2006.right about when the crap hit the fan.am i right?

You mean record amount of debt and the largest expansion of government since FDR? Not to mention the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act for you guys who are against socialism... Nope, all that happend pre-2006.

Not trying to bust on you personally here Harry. My point here is that the Repulican Party is a fraud. They claim to be for smaller government and less spending and taxes but thier actions tell a different story. I don't understand why people don't hold republicans accountable for this.

No I'm not a Democrat. I'm an independent. Unfortunetly I think the whole system is rigged literaly. The Dems and the Reps have setup the system so only "elites" get elected.

A $50 Lesson

I live in Tulsa , Oklahoma , and recently asked my friends' little girl what

she wants to be when she grows up. She said she wanted to be President

some day. Both of her parents, liberal Democrats, were standing there,

so I asked her, 'If you were President what would be the first thing you

would do?'

She replied, 'I'd give food and houses to all the homeless people.'

Her parents beamed with pride.

'Wow...what a worthy goal,' I told her, 'But you don't have to wait

until you're President to do that. You can come over to my house and

mow the lawn, pull weeds, and sweep my yard, and I'll pay you $50. Then

I'll take you over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs

out, and you can give him the $50 to use toward food and a new house.'

She thought that over for a few seconds, then she looked me straight in

the eye and asked, 'Why doesn't the homeless guy come over and do the

work, and you can just pay him the $50?'

I said, 'Welcome to the Republican Party.' Her parents still aren't speaking to me..

The way I see it is that our government has drawn a line in the sand, and dared us to cross it. Things are only going to get worse at their current pace. I think it's up to us as citizens to prove to the government that they work for us. Not the other way around. I'm amazed at how many of my friends didn't even know that today was voting day, and don't seem to care. Our only choice now as I see it, is to run across that line full force to show the government that we aren't willing to stand idly by while they take away all of our liberties and rights. For whatever hairbrained reason they come up with.

Bottom line: It's time to take the power back, before we have no choice in the matter.

I won't be that political on here but i did find some quotes that i thought some what fit. Plus they are good reading material

We have a system that increasingly taxes work and subsidizes nonwork.
Milton Friedman

What is the use of a house if you haven't got a tolerable planet to put it on?
Henry David Thoreau

A people that values its privileges above its principles soon loses both.
Dwight D. Eisenhower

How can a society that exists on instant mashed potatoes, packaged cake mixes, frozen dinners, and instant cameras teach patience to its young?
Paul Sweeney

History is a tool used by politicians to justify their intentions.
Ted Koppel

True patriotism hates injustice in its own land more than anywhere else.
Clarence Darrow

Ancient Rome declined because it had a Senate, now what's going to happen to us with both a House and a Senate?
Will Rogers

Christmas is the time when kids tell Santa what they want and adults pay for it. Deficits are when adults tell government what they want and their kids pay for it.
Richard Lamm

For in reason, all government without the consent of the governed is the very definition of slavery.
Jonathan Swift

Giving money and power to government is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys.
P. J. O'Rourke

If human beings are fundamentally good, no government is necessary; if they are fundamentally bad, any government, being composed of human beings, would be bad also.
Fred Woodworth

Our government... teaches the whole people by its example. If the government becomes the lawbreaker, it breeds contempt for law; it invites every man to become a law unto himself; it invites anarchy.
Louis D. Brandeis

Talk is cheap - except when Congress does it.
Cullen Hightower

The government solution to a problem is usually as bad as the problem.

WOW I didn't know that many people here made over 250 grand a year. How cool to be on a site with the TOP 3% in the country.
I'm for selling out our counrty to the highest bidder, well at least the one who gives the most. Don't care what country the money comes from as long as it helps MY bottom line. Thats what REAL Americans do.
I'm all for BIG BIZ and them not paying a dime for anything they do here. I can understand why Haliburton relocated to the U.A.E. Heck all that war cash they got ......I wouldn't want to pay the taxes on that
I can't understand why BP should be held responsable for the spill. Hell we use the oil that their drilling for in our waters. Heck any oil or gas company shouldn't have to pay a dime and if it F-ups the land so be it. It's on the american people to clean it up.
I hate the auto bailout. Why keep all those jobs, including all the otherones it saved too. parts suppliers, dealerships, truckers, small towns who need the factorys...losers I say who needs ya
Insurance companies get a bad rap too. I can see why they denied me my cancer treatments and fought so hard to get me off the policy I PAYED FOR. I think it's great that they can take my money for years and not pay for my chemo....it's all about the bottom line. Just imagain if the casinos didn't payout on a bet they lost.
Schools???? WHO GIVES A SHT ABOUT OUR CHILDREN cuz No Child Left Behind is doing sooooo well. I like it that we're around #20 in the world
I think every CEO should get a bonus for sending a job overseas. Their saving the country!!!!!
I LOVE WAR and the fact that my brothers are there. I even enjoy the fact that 7 of my relatives are there too. I think it's even better that they receive care from an insurance company if hurt and any extra bennies they get should be cut. Thats just a long vacation their on.
And lets not forget the GAYS....How cool to slam them but yet lease your property to them. Bottom line again. And lets not forget hate'em all but if one happens to be someones daughter thats just fine, we'll use'em.
I'm also for MOMMA GRIZZLIES, WITCHES, and any bevrage sounding party.
I can't see how the Bush plan has failed. Made me PLENTY OF MONEY!!!
I think it's great that when a party loses they can just put a stop on everything and take their ball home. I see two more years of that.
I really need the tax cut cuz this year it looks like I'll cross the 300 grand mark and I don't feel like paying my fair share. Heck let my neighbor do that. Her $23,000 a year job should be able to handle it. I could care lees that she has 2 kids, a mortage, deadbeat dad as an ex, or the fact her job was sent to India. She should of planed better.
But all in all I'm soo glad to be on a site with the top 3% and want the Bush years again. I don't see how his plan went so wrong when so few made so much while so many went broke. I got my bottom line and if you didn't too bad. Your just cry babies
Now if I was a Republican I'd really belive this BS but I'm not. I'm a Dem who has $$$ that belives that we all have to do our part. So what I make more than most if not all of my freinds I still belive in doing the right thing. And thats not SELLING OUT. Sure the Republicans might win but that means Palin in 2012 and you don't and won't have a shot with that CRAZY BTCH.
It's your vote and if you choose to belive your in the top 3%, which I doubt most on here are not, then SELL YOUR VOTE. Don't come crying in a few years when reality hits you in the face. We had 8 years of lies and waste with BUSH and I can't belive you want it again

Sorry guys, I see this going no where good in the next few hours or days. Lets all just agree to disagree when it comes to politics.
