I'll second that. I know someone with a really nice example that cost about $12,000.

I have been searching for one for a while (wife really wants one). I have found several in my area in the $5-6000 range in very nice original condition. I think I need to get one before prices really get up there.

why are they so expensive?

The 400cc Pilot was only made one year (1989, though some were re-badged and sold as 1990's) and they were pretty rare, costing quite a bit back in the day. Many of them are ragged out so stock, nice examples really pull a premium.

If I have 10K to spend I would be bumping that auction up some. That's in great shape, the only thing that would hold down the price is is the people who want it not having the money (like me).

Now that is kewl looking,,man Honda built their machines with the right look back in the 80's.. Who ever designs Honda's atv's today has no taste nor clue or maybe I'm stuck in the 80's.lol.. Never the less that is a sweeeeet pilot! It's got the look that says fun, if they take a old school look with new technology with their ATV's today then that would be awsome.

You can get lucky and find a Pilot for around 4k. If you do ever find one to buy, check the rear axles for play, engine compression, and any leaks around the exhaust. Honda still makes parts, but not many of the hard parts anymore...

I prefer an odyssey to a pilot, but they do have their advantages. My oddy is soon to have a 440 plane motor on it. Fast as HELL!
