Trikes, Bikes, Quads, Boats, Snowmobiles is what i am refering to, but feel free to includue other items.

I am wondering if you guys are finding that no one is budging on their prices with the items they are selling on Craigslist. A few years ago people would dump stuff and i figured the way the economy is they would be happy to just get rid of things and take what money they can get.

Has anyone else noticed this?

The rare items i can understand. (example) A raptor660? There is a billion of them and you can buy new for say 2k more than what a beat up used one is selling for.

I dont see it too much, when i do i dont bother. the main thing i see is people not knowing that year machine it is and then saying price is firm...sumtimes 6-9 months later its still there.

I put up a 85 R on CL this week and it's priced right at $1500. I think with the new motor, disc and cailber I deserve to get that price. If it sells it sells otherwise back in storage it goes. But there is a 85 R down the strret from me on CL, no rear brake system, and the guy wants $2500. He even threw in the comment " No dumbarse questions. I know what this is worth" Same bike as mine but a grand more. I wonder who sells his 1st?
But I will say it's mine to price and if one doesn't like it then go find another. I can't take a hit on it and give it away for pocket change.

Some people think their stuff is gold, that's just the way it is. Some of the prices on CL atvs and trikes around here just make me laugh

oh and them guys with gsxr srads think for some reason they all worth 3-3500 for a 14 year old busa wanna be.

I guess i am just cheap when it comes to buying something used or looking for that awesome deal all the time. I mean some toys i don't mind paying money for. Here is an example of what i am saying

Now at this dealer they have up list price. I can get a new 09 400ex at list price for 6400. I would think you could walk out with it at 5k. Now the CL post for an 02 at 2500 is just crazy IMO.

This link may not come up to the exact quad but i click on honda and then 09 sport option

Yes I agree that 400ex is way too much. That's $1500 or under. I've seen 2003 z400/kfx400 quads going for $1500 around here, and they are superior in every way to the 400ex

In my opinion, the market drives the price. If some jackwad pays 10K for something worth 1K, then the next jackwad does the same...........If nobody pays the way too high prices, they will come down.........

damn i am just the opposite, i have been tending to sell stuff for way too cheap. I wouldnt actually do it though if I didnt need the money right away...sucks when you are in a bind and the buyer can smell it

I don't blame ya. We dump 1500$ into them, break them in and offer them for 1200,1500,1800$ etc. Receipts etc yet either no one has the money or they want to lowball you and basically steal from you AGAIN!!

Just a bad time to be a seller; Donzi should have sat on that stuff. Unless the world ends, he'd get allot more in the future.............

Alot of times, someone has told the seller that their items are worth more. And then people are budgeting around the load of money that they are going to get when the item sells. So people are sort of counting on getting big money for their items and some don't want to take anything less. When the economy was a little better, I think people could afford to let things go a little cheaper and they are a little more desparate to get as much as they can get now.

I think your last sentence makes much more sence to me. Cause i never thought of it that way.
I guess people think well i'm not hurting and i'm doing ok all around money wise so heck i'll let it go for that.

I had someone tell me once his pain in the a s z wife was bugging him to get rid of stuff and he would just price it too high so it wouldn't sell while at the same time appeasing her.

Lol, don't get me started. 'It ran when I parked it in the field 5 years ago' (then why would you give up on it and park it?). 'Motor runs good, just needs a new top end and clutch' (In my mind: runs good as what?). 'Normal cosmetic wear', I don't think it's 'normal' to leave something outside in the elements for 20 years and let the plastics rot and the whole bike turn brown from rust, lol.
