Those things are ugly! How did they handle? It looks like it was a last minute decision by yamaha to make it a 4 wheeler by just welding a front end on a Tri Moto 200.

Was proabbly meant as a joke, but you are also probably right. They did that with the TriZinger, only producing the Quad zinger in 86, which was nothing more than the TriZinger converted. I believe the YFM200 was only sold in 86 as well.

plus side is.. all the backend parts swap out, and the newer moto 4's had 4 lug hubs...

They actually came out with the YFM200 in 1985 with no suspension and in 86-89 they added suspension and barely changed it. That one is not a good example of one. I grew up on one of those they don't handle bad at all.

They were ugly but my '85 could turn almost as well as a trike.

One of my friends had 1 , and it is pretty tuff. It has no suspension, and will beat the crap out of you on the bumpy stuff. I will say that it is pretty damn tuff though. This guy can barely put gas in much less do any maintenance to it. We beat it relentlessly for a couple years before he sold it and had no problems.

Compared to the other models of utility quads that were produced in the mid 80s the yamaha. I think they looked the best. Just look at the 85 LT230ge, Kawasakis Bayou(i think), Polaris 250??? and honda's TRX200. The Yamaha in my opinion looks the best.
