I got into duck hunting a couple years ago and i've been using my pump mossberg ever since. I told myself that I was going to get a new gun before last season but never got around to it. So after this season was over I was dead set on getting a remington 11-87 until I started looking around at bass pro shop. This winchester SX3 caught my eye and feels really good. I've read some good reviews on it and I can't wait to shoot it. Does anyone have one and how do you like it?

Chris

I've used Winchester semi auto shotguns since I was 10, I'm 37 now. I found a great deal on a well used Remington 1100 maybe 10 years ago and haven't used my Winchesters much at all since. This tells you what I think of them but everyone is different.

Google Winchester model 59 and you'll see that the Winchester shotguns (we had 7 of these) me and dad had are quite odd and are kinda fragile. I will never sell my model 59 but I wont use it much anymore, But to me it's one of the neatest shotguns ever made.

I have a mossberg maverick with the 10 round sidewinder kit, the rotary version not the clip. Thats my zombie gun. I use my mossberg 500a with the interchangeable barrels for deer, skeet, pheasant, turkey and home defense and zombies. I bought it refurbished from wally world when I was 19 for about $100 when I was painting houses and roofing between semesters in college. I love that gun.

I have a Remington 870.

I thought about buying the 11-87, but i couldn't convince myself to spend another $300 just to shoot a little bit faster.

Either way, i always took down my legal limit of Canadian Geese.

Looks like a nice Winchester you got there, take good care of it and it will last you a lifetime.

500 bucks.
Its a short story though, i bought it from a small private shop. The owner is who i was dealing with, well i told him what model number I wanted and he told me 500 bucks.
and he wrote down what I wanted On the receipt.
well when My gun came in, it was the standard mossberg 590, not the 590A1. he was looking at the wrong price originally, but my receipt said 590A1. so he re orderd for the correct gun but did not charge me the extra 100 bucks It woulda been. He was an old guy and was a true gentleman about it and took the fault like a man. so I got a sweet deal for it being a small shop. To bad there aren't more people like him out there these days.
but I did MONTHS of research beforehand and Didnt wanna pay more than 500 anyway. so I didn't think much of it when he said 500, later it turns out hes just overpriced. not a big deal for a small private shop.
Cabellas wanted 550 for the same gun.

I bought a 1187 Super Mag with a 28" barrel when they came out.All I can say it works really good out of the box, never dissassembled it and cleaned it yet.It shoots all sizes of shell, low brass, high brass,2 3/4"-3 1/2".Turkeys at 50-60 yards are flat out dead.Everybody told me don't buy it they are junk.Maybe I got a good one some how. Also just purchased a used 1100 the other day.Older 2 3/4" model fixed choke barrels.Yes I got two barrels a 26" Improved Cylinder and a 28" full, both vent rib.The gun is almost flawless.Out the door price came to $350,can't complain there.

i have heard 870 wingmasters are GREAT guns. but i have heard to stay away from 870 expresses. they have jamming issues with cheap shells.
I wanted a durable, do all, see all, SHTF shotgun. wingmaster woulda been it but i went for the 590a1 since i dont hunt and like the extra rounds the 590 could hold.

Yeah, they aren't nice guns to shoot, but damn if they aren't amazing, I wouldn't trade this shotgun for a cagiva, it belonged to my great grandfather.

i have an express in a 20g...never jammed but you have to becarefull...it had a cheap finish that will rust quick if you dont keep it wiped down with something....they arent blue'd like a wingmaster

me too!!! its a good time.
If you can find it, go foir a 870 police. they are built with different standards then the express and are made with the quality of the wingmaster. but they have more a tactical (riot gun) feel. they are what Law enforcement has used for a long time. makes for a funner time shooting since your not hunting, but you can still throw a choke on her for hunting. and I have found smoothbores with cylinder bore or improved cylinder work pretty well with slugs if your into deer. again, if you ever got into hunting later. not as well as a rifle, but good enough that you could get out and have a good time. with practice you could go 80-100 yards.

if you are buying it to shoot skeet...get the longest barrel you can...holds a better pattern IMO...

Mr_RPM
02-24-2011, 12:33 AM
that, and go for a tight choke. I shoot skeet with my 20inch barrel cylinder bore and have tons of fun. but my friends 1100 28 inch barrel full choke patterns much tighter.

i just gottga be fast with my gun, shoot while my pattern is tight. its easy to be quick since the shot spreads fast, aiming is not so important.

my wingmaster has an 30inch barrel...single button sight at the end...no rail or vents...i absolutely love it lol mostly gets used to clay pigeons and bunny hunting!
