depends on your rear link set up, 2 different types. if you have the more traditional style with the link on the bottom and the shock mounting to the frame on the top you can use a rear banshee shock, and since the piggy back is directly behind the spring it wont interfere with your filter or pipe.

I seem to think my buddy used to run a 250x WORKS shock on his 230 Q-sport.....I dont know if the 250 is the same.

The shock on the 230 and 250 is different, mainly the 250s has a res on it (and was considered superior to the 230's at the time). As far as the mounting points I don't know if the two are interchangeable, or what else could fit. For some reason I think they changed the swing arm length when they came out with the 250, this may have affected the shock position. Reasonably if the bushings in the ends are the same size, if the res does not hit anything in the shocks travel, and if valving doesn't matter, any shock would work.

It's possibly a Yamaha shock will fit, I could not tell you for certain (Yamaha "borrowed" a lot of design ideas from Suzuki when they came out with their quads).

I've seen works shocks up on ebay with surprising availability in the past few months, and I have seen them in the works outlet store. I've been told they are a huge upgrade, if not a costly option.
by the way works list the shock as 13 inches:
