I collect old police cars. I now own 5 Crown Victoria's. 1 95, 2 96, 1 97, 1 98.
Anyone else drive a P71? (another name for them)

Ive always wanted one of the caprice cop cars from the 90's... My 76 f250 has a police 390, thats as close as Ive gotten.. Lets see some pics, I like the crown victorias.. Gotta figure they are awesome the cops are always on the gas with the ac blastin, anything that can do that all day everyday is a good machine..

I had an '89 CVPI. Only paid $400 for it but ran it as a winter beater/ dailly driver for several years. Decided to part it out after I had an upper ball joint go out while driving. The 140mph speedo, AC brackets, and motor brought almost more than I paid for it. This was deffinately the most fun I've ever had with $400.

Later on I picked up an '89 CV for $450. Ran that one for 4 years and only changed a few tires and a headlight. That one had almost 200k on it when the trans went and I sold it for scrap.

Today I drive an '04 Mercury Marauder. Mine is one of just 997 Silver Birch Marauders built in '04. This one only comes out on nice days though. I love these Panther chassis's.

Does a 91 Ford SHO count? I know a few were used as police cars.

Have a 98 Lincoln Conti, which is the same platform. Had it for about five years now with no problems at all. Change the oil and go. Has the 4.6 with direct drive front wheel drive. Great gas mileage teamed with good power is a win win. Anyone that overlooks this combo is missing out. This car will last another ten years no doubt about it. It is the 350x of passenger cars.

My dad used to go to police auctions in the 70's and picked up a plymouth fury interceptor with a 440. That car was awsome.. It had a button to pop the trunk. That was high tech in the 70's. Seriously the car was fassssttt.

I've always wanted a black, two door, 1969 Fury 3 440.

when i was a younger man i had a 74 plymoth south carolina trooper car with the 440, that car was fun still was red and white with the decals removed, i use to get pulled over just so our local officers could have a peek, i added a few engine mods, early 80`s was a great time to be growing up you could buy any muscle car for 500 bucks.

Lincoln Conti FWD is not the same platform. Lincoln Town Car is.
I miss my 96 Crown Vic every time I drive my Civic more than 10 miles. The aero Vic was smoother and quieter than my parents' LS400 and I only paid $350 for it with the infamous cracked intake manifold.
I'm glad I sold the Crown Vic every time I fill the Civic's tank, though.
My 95 Roadmaster LT1 (similar to the Caprice cop cars of the day) would smoke it all day long. That thing was bada$$ for a 5000lb sofa.

Good call JB.
Ill try and get some pics up real quick. I love the Aeros, much smoother and the lower gear ratio worked well with them.
As for the Marauder, jealous!

Nice fleet Liz!

I'd love to find another good 'box' to use as a dailly driver. My '89 was awesome even in the snow. The Jeep I replaced it with (a '96 XJ Sport 2door) has had about a million issues...and none of them were cheap or easy to fix either.

The Marauder has been very reliable. In almost 7 years and 70K miles, I've replaced just one coil pack. Tires are spendy though. If you look around, decent Marauders can be found for under $9,000. Check out MercuryMarauder.net sometime. There is always some good used Marauders in the classifieds if you're interested.

Here's 3 of the worst pics I've ever taken of my Marauder. I had better ones but a computer crash caused me to lose most of them.

Can't wait to get it out again!

Thanks!

Quick question, Did any of the Aero models come with the 5.0? I had a '94 Thunderbird but wasn't a very big fan of the 4.6 it had. That bird just didn't have enough thunder. An aero CVPI with the 5.0 would be a helluva great dailly driver.

I know the Florida Highway Patrol bought some Mercury Marauders (30 IIRC) but the last I heard is they are still being used. It'll be interesting to see what they go for when they eventually come up for sale.

Sorry boys, I'd rather have my 3.0 V6 SHO than a Crown Victoria. It's about the ONLY 6 cylinder thats ever amazed me, next being the 2011 mustangs.

And Leviblue is right, between police cars, and putting huge gawdawful wheels on 70s Cutlass Supremes, monte carlos, and old Impalas, I'm about to hunt down the manufacturers of these awful wheels and give them a piece of my mind.

And boot.

Crown Victorias have only been available with a 4.6 since 92, the start of the Aero years. Ick on the SHO! :P
Id love a Marauder, but buying a house, I cant afford one. :(
And times 100000000000 on the rims. Awful.

Only complaint on the SHO is it's FWD. Oh well.
