Thought I would start a thrread about the floods we are facing here.
Where I live and work isnt too bad, but the highways around here have either been pounded out by traffic re routes or by being washed out. The lakes here are expected to rise anywhere between 7 and 10 feet due to large amounts of rain last year and an above average snowfall.
I work at a very busy Heavy Truck and Trailer repair shop. Its Located 4 miles out of town with only 2 ways in and out. This morning at 10 am we got a call saying the roads have washed out and no heavy traffic allowed.
Here is the main grid that washed out and they had to dig a trench to release water.

This is what that area looked like at 5 pm last night

This is the only passable road to the shop. Its about 3 feet deep and full of ice chunks.

They are saying we havent even see the worst of it yet, everything that usually runs north is now going to run south and we are screwed.
I am going to the shop tomorrow to put in my carb kit, I will take my camera and get some HQ pictures.

Brutal!
They said Regina was bad on our news here in the Pacific northwest but
didn't say much else.
It is SOOOOOOOOOO irresponsible to stop the weather maps at the godblessed borders.
I think there was even an old cartoon like that.
Airboats?
hovercrafts?
My field floods every year and I almost bought a houseboat
instead of an RV, so it would simply float. no matter HOW deep it got.
Those pix, to most people look kinda pretty but that &^%$ will take your
breath away if you're anywhere near it.
esp wondering if and how much worst it can get.
Good luck and be careful of drinking water contamination.

Here in Town we are fine. Just with the record amount of rain we had last year the ground is so saturated that the snow melting is just turning into run off only.
I guess the Chain lake system is rising over a foot a day and we are no where near the crest yet.

Ya, this is gonna be bad guys. DrJoe started this one:http://www.3wheelerworld.com/showthread.php?128576-Everyone-ok-in-the-SE-USA-storm-zone. And now this one:http://www.3wheelerworld.com/showthread.php?129198-eastern-NC-tornado-aftermath. And I've already showed MT. It's raining or snowing 4-5 times a week. The mountain are still snow-pack, & even with the warm weather haven't let loose yet. When they do it'll be a mess. What sucks in Montana is they won't do anything, lol. Wait fer it all to flow out and drain. This year was the worst weather recorded in MT history. I also read that it is the worst ambient weather changes throughout the U.S. in history.

Well last summer and fall we had 30 + Inches of rain. It was insane, Every second day we had a rain storm. One storm brought 6 inches of rain in about 2 hours.
We were talking about this at the shop on Friday. I know it sounds coo coo but with this 2012 crap, I dont believe the world is comming to an end. I do however believe the climate of the world is going to change. I mean look at Japan seems like every few weeks now they are getting an earthquake. Its nuts.
I watched a program a year or so ago that said they had evidence that the earths polars were once the opposite. They believe that one day it will slowly change back to the way it was before. I know it sounds as crazy as the 2012 but you never know.......
Regardless our climate is changing. I mean this has been the coldest spring I can remember. Good think too or we would be completly screwed here. The cold is about the only thing saving the highways around here. As it is I am not sure I can even make it into work tomorrow.
Oh well I am just killing time until my wife is off work so I can go riding on this DX lol. A hour and a half left and its killing me lol

we got slammed with a bunch of cute lil' twisters in 2002.
Power was out for over a week....which is what got me started
Water tanks surrounding the woodstove,
220 generator for the well pump
but WTF ya gonna do if the roof comes off?
Guess we should have bug out bags somewhere other than the house.
Food and water in the cars/trucks and don't park them near trees.
I had to run to a friends house at 2am with a chainsaw to cut the carport off their cars.
Linda was home alone with 2 little kids at that time.
How prepared can we really be?
Interesting, motivating, scary and demands attention all at the same time.
I think the next house I build will be 1/2 buried into a south facing hillside.
with cables running from the foundation, OVER the roof and back into the ground.
Heck, why not welded bolted steel i beams.
1/2 Bury a few waterproof shipping containers redneck style?
At least with hurricanes, you know they're on the way.
