I think I've seen the best lift idea yet. The guy was using an old crank up hospital bed! It worked like a charm. He had a 3/4" piece of plywood bolted to the top for strength. All his three wheelers were stored on a shelf approx 48" high. He would simply crank up the bed to about 30" and use a ramp to achieve the remaining distance. It makes a great work platform and it's strong enough to use a commercial lift on top of it to lift the machine up to remove the wheels while working at waist level. Also the castors allow you to roll the machine around with ease. Wish I had a camera, but I'm sure you get the picture. I'm now looking for my own old hospital bed. The only unknown is the weight rating? I'm sure the bed is designed for a 300+ lb patient with a good safety factor buit in.
