Bingo. My Dad had 01 TRX 350 es 2x4 (that's what they are called in Canada) and Honda called the shifting esp (electric shift program).

Yup Electronic Shift...and boy as a honda service guy, they are a NIGHTMARE to work on. The repair manual alone is 2" thick haha.
