So I'm going to be having a straight pipe made up for my Buell. My buddy owns a custom exhaust shop and we're going to makes something decent for it. They use aluminized steel there for pipe. What I need to figure out is what kind of finish to put on the pipe. I can't do chrome, my bike has no chrome on it. I was thinking of polishing and then coating it, but I don't know what kind of coating would hold up to the temperatures. I am open to powder coating as well, but again, I have no idea how that holds up to heat. Suggestions?

Thermal wrap it. That would look awesome.

I'm liking both of these ideas a lot, both the thermal wrap and the Jet Hot. Thanks guys.

Sweet I love the '85's. My first fox was a '86 notch, then a '80 hatch, '91 lx hatch, '93 GT, '87 Big Block notch, '97 GT, and a '96 Cobra Vert.

I always wanted a white '85 GT but never got around to buying one. Maybe one day if I decide to get back into cars.

I vote on custom stainless steel and polish it out.

Thanks for the suggestion Veal but like I said, we are using aluminized steel. I'm thinking I'm gonna go with the blue header wrap. If I don't like it, I can do something with it later.

Thank you RPM. I love this bike so much, I can't stay off the thing! I've had a Ducati, a Triumph, a Yamaha, this thing blows em all away as far as I'm concerned.

You can do the ceramic coating yourself with an air brush. There is a full line of air cure ceramics now that works well but is a little tricky to spray. Colors are limited but there is a blue, it's a dull finish and has some texture. I've never used the heat wrap, does it hold up after it's been wet?

The best way to apply it is to soak it in water before "wrapping".

we wrapped some Harley pipes back in high school, having it soaked and a few guys to hold the pipes and another to FIRMLY wrap them. turned out awesome. it kind of gave the bike a dirty hot rod look, not sure how that will look on a sport bike, but id imagine it would come across as a performance look.

Thanks all for the suggestions and compliments. I almost came by with it yesterday Steve. I haven't even started my truck since Monday.

I am going with the blue wrap for now to see how it looks. If it doesn't look good then I'll look into one of those coatings.

It was right there Steve. People are pretty impressed by it. It's pretty tiny for having 1200cc's. Most people have no idea what it is. I went in for a sticker today and the guy referred to it as a "rice burner". I told him that's 100% American muscle there and he had to look again.

The wheelbase is tiny. I was doing 95 cruising on the highway today and I got a death wobble, more than once. After the first one I stopped and checked to make sure I didn't have a low tire. They weren't low, so I hammered it again and after a while it happened again. That's the first thing I've had happen on this bike that I didn't like. Other than that, it's been flawless. I'll sort out the wobble.

Just so you guys know, I've lived a happy, full life.:D
